Ummm… YES please.
Congrats, you’ve completed your Reiki training class and are officially a Reiki practitioner! Now what?
If you haven’t done so already, the first thing you want to do is buy a portable Reiki table to use when you work with clients. Reiki tables abound, however, so finding the right table for your particular needs can sometimes seem overwhelming at first.
Here are some tips I’ve learned along the way:
How to find the best portable Reiki table for you
- Decide if you want your Reiki table to be metal or wood. Since metal charges energy, metal Reiki tables will create a circuit of Reiki around the table. Pretty cool, huh? Also, metal Reiki tables don’t absorb toxic energy the way wood sometimes can. That is not to say wood portable Reiki tables are all bad, however. Wood Reiki tables are very grounding and can offer a stable, relaxing environment for your clients to receive the Reiki healing energy. I have an Inner Strength Reiki Table that I love and use quite often when visiting clients for mobile Reiki sessions. As long as I cleanse my wood Inner Strength table periodically, I am always just fine.
- Think about the Reiki tables or massage tables you’ve been on – which tables have been most comfortable for you? Do you prefer Reiki tables with special headrests or removable sections for the chest area? Ask around as well. Does the Reiki Master who taught your Reiki training course like his or her portable Reiki table? Do they find it easy enough to clean and transport around? I personally have found my portable Reiki Table Cart to be worth its weight in gold!
- Will you need more than one table? If you are a massage therapist or plan to teach Reiki training classes or courses in the future, you may find that you’ll need multiple portable Reiki tables. So, perhaps this first table doesn’t have to be the most expensive around, and you can upgrade as your business’ needs do.
- Do your research online – read Reiki table reviews, and find out what other Reiki Masters and practitioners are saying about their tables. Look at different Reiki blogs (It’s very obvious that I prefer Earthlite Reiki Tables!) Ask any Reiki practitioners or massage therapists that you know as well.
- Understand that you usually get what you pay for. While there are definitely deals out there – and I highly encourage you to do your homework – the more expensive tables are often the higher quality ones as well. But even if your first portable Reiki table doesn’t have all the extra padding a more expensive one might, you can always buy a fleece cover to put over it. They make a world of difference!
- There is nothing wrong with starting small, and buying an affordable Reiki table when you first start out. You can always get a better Reiki table with the money you make from your practice. As your clients (and income) grow, then you can buy an additional table or that EarthLite portable Reiki table you feel you simply must have but just doesn’t quite fit into your price range at the moment. Besides, think how good you will feel knowing that the Reiki energy has paid for your new and improved table. Just one more way Reiki is amazing!
Follow these foolproof tips, and your hunt for the best Reiki table will be that much easier. Never fear, (Well, we all fear, but do what you need to do anyway!) and rest assured that the I will do everything I can to help you find that perfect Reiki table. Or, perhaps your portable Reiki table will find you?

Namaste, I am interested in your Master Reiki/Teacher training. Is it better to purchase all the courses at once or go one by one. I definitely want to take the animal reiki class too.
Hi Yesenia,
To answer your question about taking my online Reiki classes all at once or one-by-one, I personally think it’s best to go one course at a time. If you want to take Reiki I and Animal Reiki at the same time, that’s a little different because you don’t receive a Reiki attunement in the Animal Reiki course.
But essentially, in Reiki I you learn how to give Reiki in-person to yourself and other people. In the online Reiki II training you learn how to give Reiki long-distance and “forward” and “backward” in time, and in the Reiki Master Teacher Class you learn the Master symbol and how to attune other people and teach classes of your own if you wish. Of course, there is a ton of other fun stuff and Reiki symbols in there too!
But I personally think it’s nice to allow yourself a little time for each level or degree. Even if only a few weeks or so. It’s nice to really work with what you learn in each level. For example, if you take Reiki I and II together, you might be more excited about sending Reiki through time and space from the Reiki II course and kind of skip over the practicing Reiki on yourself every day that you learn in Reiki I.
Also, you learn three symbols in Reiki I, 11 in Reiki II and about 33 in the Master Class. So it’s nice to “get to know” the symbols and develop a relationship with them and not feel bombarded or overwhelmed. Also, I’ve really found that I learn about Reiki through experience and practice and over time It’s nice to give yourself that time to have those experiences.
But, all that being said, it sounds like Dr. Mikao Usui likely never even had the levels in his Usui Reiki. Rather, it was Madame Hawayo Takata who incorporated the levels into it.
Dr. Usui may not have even differentiated between giving someone Reiki and attuning them to Reiki! So, just like with everything really, I would suggest going with what feels right to you. And maybe starting with the Reiki I video course (and perhaps Animal Reiki) and then feeling it out as to when you feel ready to move on to the next level.
Also, since all the Reiki levels are not quite ready yet (soon though!), I will be giving any student who bought Reiki I and II the same discount that people who buy the package of all the online video classes at once will get.
Take care Yesenia!
Hi,
I’m from the UK. I’d like to know if your Reiki courses are fully accredited in order for me to practise in my workplace and gain the relevant insurance?
Hi Maureen,
To answer your question about accreditation, I have to say that I’m not that familiar with how everything works in the UK unfortunately and whether the regulations are different than in the US. Here, however, the Reiki business is really interesting in that there is not any one organization that offers accreditation for Reiki teachers and practitioners like there is for massage therapists or other professions. Nor is the Reiki industry federally regulated like massage therapy is.
Since there is no one overarching Reiki organization that determines whether or not a teacher or courses are accredited, basically any Reiki Master Teacher can create his or her own courses and offer certification in them. If a Reiki practitioner needs insurance, it typically comes in the form of being insured in massage therapy or bodywork as well as Reiki. So, essentially, the practitioner gets insurance to touch another person in a therapeutic setting.
When you take my online Reiki video courses, you do receive a Reiki certificate in the mail with your name handwritten in calligraphy. So you are “certified” in that sense. But there aren’t any Reiki courses here as far as I know that are fully accredited in the sense that they make it easier to receive insurance than others. I wonder if the type of work that you do perhaps already gives you the insurance to touch clients and you can just add your Reiki to your existing insurance? Again, I’m not entirely sure about the logistics of insurance in the UK.
Honestly, I am happy that there isn’t one organization that “controls” in a sense Reiki classes. I think it allows for more freedom as a teacher, especially since the history of Reiki is pretty complicated and there are different versions about Reiki protocol. But, at the same time, no regulation does mean that you want to vet different teachers and make sure you find the right one for you.
Hope that helps Maureen!
hello there, I am not sure if you are still checking this page but I was wondering if you can suggest any reiki tables that I could purchase in australia? You may not know any companies here but I am completing my reiki masters training in may and would really like to get a reiki table before for ease of practise…thank you!
emily
Hi Emily,
Congratulations on becoming a Reiki Master! That’s so great. And yes, you definitely need your own Reiki table!
The massage table/ Reiki table company that I love here in the US in EarthLite, and it looks like they have a presence in Australia too where you can get a Reiki table in Australia.
Good luck with everything!
Hi this is Kristopher do you like Sierra Comfort massage and Reiki tables? I am looking for a Reiki table online and comparing prices and the Sierra Comfort Professional Portable Massage Table keeps coming up. Your advice is appreciated.
Hi Kristopher,
I do like Sierra Comfort portable Reiki tables. My all-time favorite company that makes Reiki tables is Earthlite, as I’m sure you can tell if you read my articles about how to choose the right Reiki table for you : ). I love how they are committed to making tables sustainably, and also that they are comfortable when I lie on them.
But that being said, I really do believe that which table you choose matters so much less than all the other factors – your intention, having it at the right height, creating a sacred space with which to have your Reiki sessions, etc. You can also add on a fleece covering to the table or headrest as well!
Taking the prices into consideration is smart as well. If a more expensive table is out of your budget, then you just don’t need to start out with one when you first begin practicing! The last thing you would want would be to be stressed out about paying for your Reiki table when you could be concentrating on growing your practice and having fun with it.
Good luck Kristopher!
hi………………dear,
brooke…………i want to learn reiki …………………… please teach me.
Hi Aradhna,
That’s great that you want to learn Reiki. My Reiki I training online would be the perfect place for you to start. It is a video-based training, and you log in and watch the videos and move through the course online. You can find out more about it as well as enroll here: https://www.reikitrainingcourses.org/reiki-i-training-online/. Good luck with everything!
Brooke
Hi,
Thank you for teaching Reiki online.
Is there a way for me to bring back my partner who has left my house to stay with someone else through Reiki?
Please help.
Thanks,
Rhonda
Hi Rhonda,
Thanks for your question about Reiki. I wish that Reiki could help in situations like that, but honestly, Reiki is more a spiritual healing practice that you can use for yourself to help yourself heal physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. You can also send Reiki to other people so they have the opportunity to heal themselves… but it just doesn’t work for situations like that. As humans, we have free will. Also, although this may be hard to understand when we’re here on the physical plane, but we just don’t have the bird’s eye view of the absolute best way things will play out. We can’t see everything from the perspective of our Higher Self or Spirit. I wish I had a different answer for you. Good luck with everything!
Do I have to have basic Reiki training before taking the online video class for animal Reiki? I am thinking of becoming a certified pet loss counselor and offering Reiki as well, but didn’t know if I needed more extensive training. I don’t think I want to work with people. Thanks.
Hi Shardee,
That’s so wonderful that you are thinking of becoming a pet loss counselor – I lost my seven-year-old miniature schnauzer this year, and it was so, so hard. I have to say that Reiki did help me a lot in the process, though. I know it helped him with the pain, but also helped me with the transition. Wow did he open my heart : )
That is a beautiful thing that you will be doing for people if that’s the route you decide to take.
To answer your question, the way I am structuring the online Reiki classes is this – there will be Reiki I, Reiki II, the Reiki Master Class and Animal Reiki.
In the Reiki I, II and Master classes, students will receive a Reiki attunement to that level, but I arranged the Animal Reiki class assuming that people do already have some sort of understanding about Reiki and have at least taken Reiki I, either my online Reiki I video class (at http://www.reikitrainingcourses.org) or somewhere else.
I couldn’t think of any other way to structure the Animal Reiki class so that anyone, regardless of their level of Reiki, could take the class.
I think that you would still get something out of the Animal Reiki class, even if you haven’t taken Reiki I, but you wouldn’t receive a Reiki attunement in it (which is how the Reiki is “activated” inside of you), and therefore couldn’t really say that you practice Animal Reiki.
Another thing to think about is that the Reiki I class is really about learning how to heal yourself more than anything else. Yes, you learn how to give an in-person Reiki session to another person, but the focus is really on sending Reiki to yourself. So even if you aren’t planning to send Reiki to people, I think everyone can benefit from becoming attuned to Reiki.
And really, the truth of the matter is all healing is really self-healing. For example, my dog Jazzy. I sent him Reiki, but I also realized that the more I heal myself, or the more I sent Reiki to myself, the higher vibration I would be, and the more he could benefit from simply being in my presence.
Another thing we talk about in Animal Reiki is that our pets love us so much, that they are often willing to “take on” things for us to 1) help lessen our burden and 2) help us learn certain lessons. The more we heal ourselves and remember our true, innate power, the less they need to provide that service for us.
Also, if you take Reiki I, you can definitely send Reiki to animals – it’s not like you absolutely need to take Animal Reiki before doing so. It’s nice to hear ideas on how to send an animal Reiki and learn about animal medicine and things like that, but you can still send animals Reiki after taking the regular Reiki I class.
Also, I haven’t figured out the exact details yet, but I am finishing up the Animal Reiki class now, and am going to put together some type of package for Reiki I and Animal Reiki. Since literally everyone I’ve ever taught Reiki is interested in sending it to animals as well : )
I hope that gives you some things to think about : ) Take care,
Brooke
Hi Brooke!
My name is Gina and I am a newly certified Intuitive and Tarot Card Reader. How exciting to finally use my gifts! I am thinking about adding Reiki to my practice and I’m currently researching how to get training, attuned and some sort of formal certification. Do you have any current or upcoming offerings? Thanks!
Hi Gina,
Yes, it is so exciting once we finally acknowledge the gifts we’ve always had, isn’t it? I love working with cards myself – so fascinating when we tap into all the help and love and wisdom we have available to us.
I think adding Reiki to your practice would be a great idea – I really believe that the more tools we have at our disposal when it comes to healing, the better. When I offered Reiki sessions I would often do a card reading first and also use sound healing, crystals, aromatherapy, massage, etc during the session.
Also, because the main idea of Reiki is that we can use it to heal ourselves. The more we dissolve the any energetic blockages or false belief patterns stuck inside of us, the easier it is to connect to Spirit and the more accurate our readings and information can be! Also, when we raise our vibration, the people we work on are elevated simply by being around us.
I’m not currently teaching any online Reiki course trainings at the moment, because I just finished my online Reiki I video course and am putting the finishing touches on Reiki II, the Reiki Master Teacher class and the Animal Reiki video classes. You can find out more about the online Reiki I video class here.
Good luck with everything Gina!
Is it necessary to have a photo of the person to give long distance Reiki?
Is there some position in which I should send long distance Reiki?
Hi Rama,
No, you don’t need to have a picture of the person in order to send them long-distance Reiki. You can “see” or visualize the person in your Third Eye, your mind’s eye, you can use a stuffed animal or other object as a stand-in for that person, or you can simply think of them while using the Long-Distance Reiki healing symbol. Your intention is what matters. There isn’t any particular position you have to be in to send distance healing and Reiki long distance, either. You can be sitting, laying down, with your eyes open or closed, it is really up to you and how you feel most comfortable!
You are very kind… if possible please let me know how Reiki can help my young daughter (6 yrs old )…in removing her fear of everyday things in her life…this fear is actually effecting her health..some Reiki Masters say i will have to give her Reiki daily at each position. I do not have almost 45 minutes every day as I m working … plz suggest to me how Reiki can help me to heal my daughter even while I’m at work. Sat Nam.
Sat Nam Guru Dev,
Wahe guru! Let’s see, I don’t think you have to give your daughter Reiki for a certain amount of time every day. If you really focus on seeing her in perfect health, really seeing your daughter happy and brave and without the fears, seeing her as you know she truly is, even if you just did that for a few minutes each day, that would be enough. You can send your daughter healing energy while you are at work too. Just think of her, and focus on her feeling good and being happy. Visualizing her all better is a very powerful tool!
There is a long-distance Reiki symbol you learn in Reiki II, but if you haven’t taken that, you can still send your daughter love and healing energy while you are at work.
One more thing you can do is to focus on self-care and being as nice to yourself as possible. That may sound strange, but Reiki really is about healing ourselves. As you heal yourself and are kind and good to yourself, the other people around you can benefit from your high vibration as well. If you are in such a good place that you are literally emanating positive healing energy, just by being around you, your daughter will receive the benefits.
Hope that helps! Take care!
Thanks to Reiki, thanks to your students, thanks to God …thank you…
You’re so welcome, Gayatri, what a nice thing you wrote!
PLEASE HELP ME AND TELL ME WHAT OT DO FOR MY BROTHER RAJ. HE TAKES IN AND FIGHTS THE NEGATIVE ENERGY IN HIS HOUSE, I BELIEVE HE IS UNDER THEIR CONTROL. HE DOESN’T BATHE OR CHANGE HIS CLOTHES. HE YELLS FOR NO REASON. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO DO AND SAY AND HOW TO FLOW THE REIKI ENERGY TO HIM. I AM A REIKI LEVEL ONE AND SEND CHOKUREI. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
I’m so sorry to hear about the hard times you are having with your brother.
Chokurei is a wonderful symbol to use as you send her Reiki, but honestly it is your intention to see him better that is most important. Your intention is in the right place, so there’s no wrong way to send him Reiki. A nice way to start a Reiki session would be to say something to the effect of, “I invite everyone of the Light who would like to assist in this Reiki session today” or specifically invite any you’d like to as well.
So much of Reiki is really just sending love, so as best you can, I would recommend picturing your brother as healed in your mind. Picture him better, and really hold those thoughts in your mind as best as you can. And let go of when that might happen and leave it in the hands of God/Spirit/the Universe.
Good luck Shivani, I am thinking of you!
Brooke
thank u for your articles, u motivate me, i keep trying to believe i’m doing reiki and its going and working, but plz tell me how much time minimum it will take to see a response n results from the reiki so a ray of hope continues.
In terms of how long it takes to feel the results of Reiki, there is no easy answer for that, unfortunately. One of the hardest things (if not THE hardest) that we as Reiki practitioners have to do is trust that the Reiki is working exactly as it’s supposed to. Easier said than done! Good luck with everything Arjun.
Hi Brooke,
I want to join your Reiki Training Classes, and would like to know more about the online video classes. I have completed the Reiki one first degree class. Can you tell me more about how it works online?
Thanks,
Andrea
Hi Andrea!
Sure thing, let’s see, the online video classes are easy to move through. Basically, once you buy a class, you create a login and password and can watch the videos and download the class materials under each video. You can also share your experiences and questions with the other students taking the class in the discussion sections. You receive your Reiki attunement at the beginning of each online course as well
The Reiki I online video class really focuses on the basics: how to give yourself as well as another person a complete Reiki treatment, the different hand positions, the Reiki symbols and principles, the history of Reiki, how to protect yourself from unwanted energies, etc. Students are attuned to the Power Symbol, the Peace Symbol and the Centering Symbol.
Since you’ve already taken Reiki I, however, let’s talk about the Reiki II online video class! You will be attuned to 13 additional symbols, including The Distance Healing Symbol, the Mental/ Emotional Reiki symbol and the Karma Clearing and Manifestation Symbols. We go into the Chakras in great detail, you learn how to use a Reiki pendulum and we also talk about using crystals in your healing practice. Reiki II is such a fun class.
I hope that answers your questions, please feel free to ask me if you have any others!
I have done reiki level 2 and i want 2 know am i able 2 send distant reiki & how?
Also want 2 send reiki 2 people close 2 me but i haven’t talked to in a long time.
Hi Shivaraj,
Yes, if you’ve completed the Second Level or Degree of Reiki – aka Reiki II – you hopefully received the Long Distance Healing Reiki Symbol during your attunement and can now send Reiki long-distance. But honestly, your Reiki Master Teacher should have gone over that and explained to you how to send Reiki long-distance! Part of a Reiki II class training is not just the attunement, but how to use the Reiki symbols as well. I go over that in detail in my online Reiki II class training, because what’s the point of being attuned to symbols if you don’t know how to use them? Since you’re already attuned to the Distance Healing Symbol, hopefully you know how to invoke it and draw it. If so, as long as you draw the symbol and set the intention to send Reiki long-distance to the person, it should work just fine. If you aren’t familiar with the distance healing symbol, you may want to consider taking Reiki II once more with the right teacher so you really learn how Reiki works and how to use the symbols.
Take care Shivaraj, good luck with everything!
I cannot concentrate in study and suffer some problems with depression. Please give me any solution for how Reiki can help.
I’m really sorry to hear that you are suffering from depression. Let’s see, Reiki might be able to help in a couple ways – 1) you can receive a Reiki treatment from someone. Receiving healing touch from a qualified Reiki practitioner can be really relaxing, and allow you to get out of your head, and it can sometimes also clear stuck energy in your body by bringing painful issues up to be released. You may have to feel those emotions one last time as they’re on their way out, but afterward you will feel a lot lighter and freer!
A second way is to learn Reiki so you can practice Reiki on yourself and give yourself a self-treatment as often as you need. When you use Reiki, and are able to actually see that it works, that knowledge can be very empowering indeed. Depression often happens from a lack of hope or feeling helpless to change the current situation, but with Reiki, you always have a ‘healing tool’ in your back pocket that you can use to take action. Learning Reiki also helps with accepting those circumstances that we just can’t change.
Here is where you can find out more about my online Reiki I video course that I recently finished.
I hope that helps, I hope that you find relief very soon!
Hi Brooke,
I took an online Reiki course years ago, but I was never quite sure if I was really attuned. I gave a couple Reiki treatments, but they never seemed to have much of an effect. So I stopped doing them. But know I am wondering if I gave Reiki enough time or really gave it a chance. Do you think I should take your Reiki I video course?
Your help is much appreciated,
Andres Villalobos
I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t really feel attuned or that your treatments had an effect, Andres. In the beginning, when I was first learning Reiki I, I didn’t feel any energy either for a full six months. But I was able to stay motivated and trusting that it was working because I was able to feel the effects, both in me and my experiences working on others.
It can often be the hardest thing to believe that Reiki is working – and I remember being very skeptical in the beginning! I even wrote a blog post about Reiki and skepticism and it being a good thing to question anything, really, instead of just blindly believing it as truth until you’ve had a chance to experience it yourself.
Even though I was having these experiences, it still really took me a while before I just knew the Reiki was working. Honestly, it is only now that I’ve taught so many people and heard all their experiences, in addition to my own, that now I have no doubts anymore. But it took a while!
In terms of whether you would get value from retaking Reiki I, I definitely think it could be valuable. I’m not teaching one-on-one classes anymore, because I filmed all the classes up to the Reiki Master Level as well as Animal Reiki in Sedona at the beginning of this year and am just now able to focus on getting them all ready.
But I think you could definitely get a lot of value from taking the video course for a few reasons. One, a ‘Reiki refresher’ can never be a bad thing, right? I do a lot of yoga, and often find that it’s in the beginning classes where I learn the most because I’m reminded of things I thought I already knew.
Also, it might be nice to learn about Reiki again from a different teacher who has a different perspective on things and another way of presenting the material. “New energy”, so to speak : )
Also, since it’s a video course and you receive Lifetime Access, you can really take your time to move through the course. I’m not sure if your other Reiki I class was a weekend or day or spread out over more time, but when I used to teach Reiki, I found that spreading out the classes always made the learning ‘sink in’ a little bit more.
Finally, I always encourage people to receive Reiki attunements from any Reiki masters they feel comfortable with! Many of the Masters out there (myself included) have learned from and been attuned to Reiki by different teachers, and it might help solidify something for you that you’ve had two attunements now, so at least one of them had better work! : )
Reiki attunements last forever, though, so even though you might question whether or not your initial one worked, as long as the teacher was really a Reiki Master and held the intention to attune you, it should have worked.
So, yes, I think you could benefit from re-taking Reiki I, and I think the best way to go about it would be to just go into it with no expectations, and see what happens.
I attune students to the Power Symbol, the Peace Symbol and the Centering Symbol in Reiki I, and you can find out more about the online video course here: http://reikitrainingcourses.org/ The price is $150 until Oct 3rd, and then it will go up.
Hope that helps, take care Andres!
Do you teach Holy Fire Reiki classes online?
I actually don’t know too much about Holy Fire Reiki, but from what I understand William Rand, a Reiki Master Teacher who teaches Reiki in Hawaii was attuning a group of people a couple of years ago, and all of a sudden “received” some additional symbols or a new type of Reiki that he called Holy Fire.
I haven’t been attuned to those new symbols or the new Holy Fire type of Reiki, so it’s not something that I teach unfortunately. I attune students to Usui Reiki as well as other traditions like Tibetan Reiki, Seichim Reiki, Ananda Rei Reiki and Independent Reiki.
But, honestly, I really feel that Reiki is Reiki is Reiki is Reiki. : ) Hopefully that makes sense! What I’m trying to say is that I have seen so many different branches of Reiki – and while I think it’s great that people are receiving new symbols – there will probably always be new symbols to learn.
As long as you are learning Usui Reiki and how you can heal yourself and help others heal themselves through this ancient Japanese practice, that’s what’s most important, at least in my eyes.
I hope that helps you, Edna! Good luck with everything!
I want to know how to send distant reiki to a person away from me who broke every contact with me and is not even responding to my calls & also charges for level 3 online reiki course. How can i divert his mind toward myself through reiki
I have done level 2. Can i send distant reiki at this level?
I know the reiki symbol 4 distant reiki as my teacher taught but not properly how 2 send distant reiki as he told me that i can only send distant reiki after doing masters course.
So could u guide me how 2 use honshazesho nen & is it necessary 2 ask permission from the person whom we are sending it to? most probably he must not understand what i m talking about
Please help.
As long as you know the distance healing symbol, you can send distance Reiki. You just have to think about the person or situation and draw the symbol. I teach students how to send long- distance Reiki in my Reiki II class, but it’s not something I can explain quickly in writing unfortunately.
I also teach students to say a disclaimer which works as asking the person’s Higher Self for permission to send them Reiki.
Regarding sending Reiki to someone close to you who has pulled away, unfortunately, that is not how Reiki works in that you can do something that will make him think of you. You can send Reiki to the situation, but after that you all you can do is let go and focus on yourself. Reiki will only work for the highest good of everyone concerned, and you can’t always see in the moment what is best long-term.
I’m still working on my online Reiki II and Reiki III video classes, so I haven’t figured out the exact price for the Level 3 Reiki class just yet.
I really hope that helps you, good luck with everything!
Any tips to help feel the Reiki energy? Meditation, breathing? Thank you!
In terms of tips as how to perceive energy – I honestly think it is a matter of practice – and patience if you don’t feel it right away. For me, even though I couldn’t physically feel the energy, I was able to see the benefits of Reiki in others ways, and that kept me going. For example, I had a stomachache not long after receiving my Reiki I attunement, and I sent myself Reiki and in five minutes the pain was gone.
I also think it can sometimes be a matter of people (and by people, I mean me : ) trying too hard. If we’re trying to feel the energy and we don’t, and get frustrated, that can make it even harder to feel because we can put expectations on the process. I love the quote from Bruce Lee that says, “The less you try, the more powerful you are.” So true I think!
But I do believe that the two things you mentioned – Breathwork and Meditation – are both excellent tools to help us get in touch with energy and become better able to perceive it and feel it, both moving in our body and around us. Now that I think about it, at the same time I first took Reiki, I was going to Sound Healing and a Guided Meditation three or four times a week. So both of those could have very well helped me be able to feel the energy when I practiced Reiki.
Both breathwork and meditation quiet our mind, and can really bring us into the present moment, which does make it easier to feel energy if our senses are heightened and we’re open and aware.
I love The Three-Part Breath, where you first inhale into your belly, then chest, then shoulders. Then, you exhale from your shoulders, then your chest, then your stomach.
I also like to put that Pause in there at the top of the inhale and at the end of the exhale.
I hope that helps, Shannon, good luck with everything!
Hi. I have level three Reiki and am looking for a Reiki Master Teacher Class. How much do you charge for Master Teaching? Also, with animal Reiki, where do people work to use it? It sounds really interesting. Thanks.
Hi Sean,
Let’s see, I am putting the finishing touches on my Reiki Master Teacher online video course as we speak, and it will be done by the end of the year if not sooner. I haven’t figured out the pricing exactly yet to be honest – I know I’m definitely not going to require that students take the first levels with me, but at the same time I do want to make sure that everyone who takes the Master class has a solid background in Reiki. This may change, so please don’t hold me to it : ), but I think the Reiki Master Teacher course will be somewhere between $600-$800?
Regarding Animal Reiki, I really love that class. And, of course, you don’t have to actually take the course to be able to practice Reiki on animals now! It definitely helps learning how to structure a Reiki session for animals, but as a Level III practitioner you can already help animals in a very profound way. Students use their Animal Reiki certification in numerous ways… I’ve taught veterinarians and vet techs, dog groomers, people who plan to volunteer in animal shelters… I’ve also taught students who then went on to open their own Reiki practices, and offered Animal Reiki as a service where they went to people’s houses and offered Reiki to their pets. Many people take the class because they want to send Reiki to their own pets as well.
Thanks again for your question, Sean, if you have any more, please feel free to ask!
I’m very interested in attending your Reiki retreat in Sedona. Namaste.
Hi Ariella –
Thanks so much for expressing your interest in the Sedona Reiki retreat. We’re not actually doing the retreats at the moment unfortunately; my friend that I held the retreats with just had a baby, and I’m finishing up my online Reiki video classes that I put together. You can find out more about the Reiki I online video class here: http://reikitrainingcourses.org/
Thank you for your interest though, and good luck with everything! Hopefully we will connect through Reiki or energywork at some point in the future : )

Hi Farshid,
I’m so happy that you contacted me! I would love to have you in a Reiki Master Teacher course training… I am finishing the online Reiki Master Teacher video class as we speak. I see that you signed up for my newsletter, which is great because that is how I will let everyone know when the online video Reiki trainings are ready and available for purchase. The Reiki Master Teacher course has 33+ new Reiki symbols for you to learn, by the way : ).
Take care,
Brooke
I want to know if The Sixth Chakra is activated by Reiki.
Thank you
Hi Trina,
Yes, our intuitive abilities and Sixth Chakra almost always are made stronger and are activated through practicing Reiki and receiving a Reiki attunement. The ability to tap into our everpresent connection with Infinite Intelligence and pure Source energy is really all that being ‘psychic’, or activating our Third Eye, really is.
So, yes, a Reiki attunement definitely does amplify our ability to use our Ajna chakra. Thanks for your question!
i want to take reiki classes
Hi Rejesh,
Great! The place to start is with the Reiki I video training!
Thank you for your Reiki table guide. I bought an Earthlite portable table and took it to a Reiki exchange. I’m really happy with it, it is an incredibly well-made table. Easy to set up and extremely comfortable.
Since I bought it I have given and received two Reiki sessions on this table. It feels sturdy and I am happy with my choice, well-worth the price.
Great post about finding Reiki tables! Good idea about waiting to buy a clearance portable Reiki table after college starts, definitely an important thing to keep in mind. I will share this on my facebook, I practice Reiki.
Thank you Margaret, I so appreciate that! Good luck with your Reiki practice and I hope you find the right Reiki table for you if you don’t have it already.
Great articles and information about Reiki!
Thank you Rhonna! We believe so strongly in the power of the healing Reiki energy to positively transform lives, we want to share as much information as possible about it with everyone.
thanks for sharing! your insight helps a lot.
Googling tables can be overwhelming. I agree, you can’t really go wrong with an Earthlite.
Hi! I found my Reiki table at Costco. The deal was great, only problem is that my table is super heavy and hard for me to lift at 5 feet 2 inches. When I’m ready for a new table, I will check out Earthlite ones.
