And my personal favorite Reiki benefit... Feels so wonderful and magical!
And my personal favorite Reiki benefit... Feels so wonderful and magical!
Being a quality and dedicated Reiki practitioner is no small feat. The outside observer may think, “Well, all you have to do is be there and hold out your hands.”
Even in our online Reiki classes, we teach that the best thing you can do when sending Reiki is “get out of the way” so the Spiritually-directed energy can flow through you. You just need to “be to be” and create a space where the healing can take place.
Nothing to it, right? Well, not so fast. Remember, every time you send Reiki, the Reiki flows through you and out your hands (which are an extension of your heart) to the person receiving the Reiki treatment.
Therefore, every time you give a treatment, you essentially receive one as well. Hence the common saying, “Give a treatment, get a treatment” that is so popular in Reiki circles.
Now Reiki is an extremely powerful healing tool. It heals us on the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical levels. And I probably don’t have to tell you that healing isn’t always “fun”, at least not at the time. : )
When it’s obvious that I am healing and processing some old beliefs or changing my thoughts to a new, more truthful paradigm, I do set the intention that the changes take place as easily and effortlessly as possible.
Since intention is so important when practicing Reiki, proposing a relatively painless transition for yourself does work.
Well, it works as much as it’s supposed to work. (Therein lies the catch.) The Reiki always works and always heals, just usually not in the way we expect it to or think that it should.
For example, if my soul is truly ready to get over an ex-boyfriend, let’s say, and I set the intention for healing during a Reiki session, the Reiki may work by bringing all the painful thoughts I repressed about him to the surface to be released and let go of.
But, instead of having my desired reaction after the session of feeling freer and being able to forget about him, I may have obsessive thoughts about my ex for a day or two. Now, that’s no fun!
But it is the Reiki working, and what soothes me during those times is knowing that, by virtue of going through this, the Reiki really is cleaning and clearing me out. Those lower-vibrational blockages are leaving me for good, so that I may vibrate at a higher frequency and therefore attract a partner who is even more “in tune” with who I am and the life I’m destined to live.
Another thought that I always remind myself of during a “healing crisis” is how so many of them have occurred before, and yet here I still am, strong and thriving. I made it through, even if I wasn’t so certain I would at the time!
I think of how I am so much healthier inside, and all the positive changes in my life since I began my journey with the healing Reiki energy. Remembering all the days I’ve felt like this before helps me get through these troubling times.
So, yes, being a Reiki practitioner requires deep courage, for every time you give a session, you are openly saying to the Universe, “I am willing to heal. I am open to change, and I am willing to heal.”
When we remember that we often attract people to work on who have similar issues we do – thanks to the Law of Attraction and also soul contracts we made with these individuals – we can see our bravery even clearer.
Essentially, we are throwing ourselves into the fire to be cleansed and purified!
So let’s take a moment to pat ourselves on the pat for being willing to heal. So many people spend their entire lives running from their emotions and difficult sensations.
We, however, we are fighting the good fight. We are willing to take open and honest looks at ourselves so that we can make a stronger impact on humanity. Let’s commend ourselves for that.
I (Brooke) love this cartoon for so many reasons. First of all, if you’ve been a Reiki practitioner for a while, you’ve almost certainly had someone give you an “interesting” response when you told them you practice Reiki.
My most recent experience was about a week ago when a neighbor asked me what I did for a living. When I told him that I teach in-person and online Reiki classes, he said, and I quote, “Oh, you’re a “Chakra Nut!” :D Now I have been called different things in my life, but this was definitely a first.
I just laughed it off, because truth be told, I guess I am a ‘Chakra Nut’. I do practice healing and energywork according to the ancient yogic chakra system. I do balance my chakras erry single day with sound healing (done with my own voice, of course, since our voice is the most powerful sound healing instrument known to man).
Not to mention how I use a powerful visualization technique daily where I envision each chakra in perfect health with its corresponding color emanating from it in pure light energy in every direction.
After all, if I am going to be a Reiki Master Teacher and tell each and every student I come across that the best possible thing they can do to be a powerful Reiki practitioner is to raise their own personal vibration, I may as well practice what I preach!
I guess I am a ‘Chakra Nut’ after all… oh, well. I guess there are worse things to be when all is said and done.
Besides, in fifty years (hopefully much sooner if we can add as many Reiki practitioners to the ranks as possible!) terms like “Reiki” and “chakra balancing” and “energy work” will be household words.
As Reiki practitioners, we are just a little ahead of our time, that’s all. I say this not to make ourselves feel important or better than those people not yet acquainted with how to heal themselves, but rather so we remember to have compassion for our fellow humans who are still asleep.
We were there once too, and probably not that long ago for many of us. The Earth’s vibration is raising so rapidly that a lot of people are “waking up” each and every day. Just because someone hasn’t yet learned (or remembered, perhaps I should say) that everything is energy, and that just because we can’t see energy with our physical eyes doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, doesn’t make that person any less spiritual or connected to Source.
When I’m speaking with people in spiritual circles who are familiar with “spiritual talk”, I give a much different explanation of what Reiki is than if I’m speaking to a group of businessmen or someone from an older generation. In laymen’s terms to someone whom the concept of an energetic world is completely foreign, I usually just describe Reiki as “an ancient Japanese healing technique”.
I ask them if they’ve seen The Karate Kid and if they remember when Mr. Miyagi used his hands to heal Daniel San’s leg in the Final Tournament. If they remember this great movie, I explain how what Mr. Miyagi was doing was “Reiki” and focusing energy on Daniel San’s leg so it could heal.
The more we can get Reiki out there for the general public to practice on themselves and their families, the better, right? Who cares how we get the word out, what’s important is that we do.
Well, my friends, at the risk of sounding like the ‘Chakra Nut’ I am, it’s time to do my daily meditation and breathwork. In order to heal the world, we must start with ourselves, right? Happy Reiki-ing!
When you see a title like that, you might think, “They are probably going to suggest that I practice Reiki every day.” After all, the more you practice Reiki, the stronger it gets.
“Or maybe they are going to say to practice the Gassho meditation” (how you start every Reiki session, with your hands in prayer position at your heart center, giving thanks and opening up to the healing Reiki energy) “every morning or every night before I go to bed.”
You may have every intention of doing these practices – which are both wonderful, by the way – but then “life” gets in the way, and your child needs his or her lunch packed for school, or the dog needs to be walked, or your demanding job which you don’t care for all that much but pays the bills is sucking the very life out of you, and when you come home you just want to eat dinner and “relax” so the next day you can do it all over again.
Over time, without a clear plan for how we can make headway on our biggest dreams and lifelong goals, the little day-to-day necessities can end up taking priority over our larger mission here on Earth. The reason we came here can get pushed deep down within or “saved” for that rainy day, which never quite ends up coming.
So, without further ado, the absolute best thing we can do to make our Reiki practice as strong and powerful as can possibly be is to do something, no matter how small, each and every day that makes our soul sing. For when our heart is happy, our vibration is high and we emanate Reiki. Best part is, whatever comes out of what we are doing at that moment becomes completely irrelevant.
Let’s say Bella wants to change her hours at her current job to part-time and start her own private Reiki practice. She took the Reiki I and II online courses we offer and will be the first Reiki practitioner in her area.
How exciting! And most likely terrifying at the same time, right? : ) Of course! Those things we truly want usually are. And our brains can so easily move to, “Well, what if I don’t have enough clients?”, “What if my income isn’t enough to support our family?”, or “What if I fail?”
Sadly, those irrational fears often prevent us from doing what we most want in life. And if we continue to ignore what our heart and soul is encouraging us to do, over time we will vibrate at a slower frequency. The fear literally grows inside and creates an energetic blockage within our body. Our vibration becomes slower and slower, because we are out of sync with our true frequency, the one that vibrates at the same rate as Universal Consciousness.
It doesn’t really matter whether Bella’s Reiki practice actually succeeds or not. It is the fear that might prevent her from even pursuing it that will eat away at her soul. Once she begins to pursue her dream, she is fighting the good fight. Whatever shall be, shall be.
Luckily, the Universe often rewards us when we take those risks we so long to take. Once we’re in the flow and going after what we want, the good feelings that accompany our courage will attract more good feelings about ourselves and our capabilities. Our positive ball of energy will continue to grow within until we eventually succeed, one way or another.
So if your true love is dance, then move. If being a mom to your child is why you incarnated, then make the time to enjoy your son or daughter every day, even if that simply means being present with them for a couple minutes before they fall asleep at night.
The best thing you can do every day to strengthen your Reiki practice may very well have nothing to do with Reiki at all, at least not at first glance.
But when you follow your dreams, you dissolve any energetic blockages of fear and doubt residing within. Not only are you practicing Reiki in that moment, you are Reiki.
Now, off you go!
While anytime is a great time to send Reiki, focusing the healing Reiki energy on a particularly special date in our history as human beings is sure to be extra potent, don’t you think? We here at Reiki Training Classes do, and that’s why we have already sent Reiki ahead of time to tomorrow and have also turned on our Reiki for the next twenty four hours.
Regardless of what you believe will happen tomorrow (December 21, 2012, the end of one of the Mayan calendars), take advantage of this special time. The Mayan Elders whose ancestors created the calendar have not said it is the “end of the world”. Quite the contrary, they see this special date as the end of a 5,200 year cycle in humanity. And as all cycles move within a circular system, when one ends another starts.
Astrologers, physics and so many people have predicted what this date means. Perhaps a rise in human consciousness all over the world, perhaps a day when the Earth will undergo massive changes, perhaps an apocalypse, an ascension… who knows really?
We particularly like one astrologer’s belief that the date marks the end of a cycle, but the energy has been building up to it and will continue for a few hundred years after it. Another energy worker believes the veil between us and the spiritual world is extremely thin at the moment and a great time to connect with your ‘people’ and beings on the other side.
December 21, 2012 also marks our Winter Solstice, which is the perfect time to reflect on the past year and think about what lies ahead. It is also an 11 Master Number day in numerology, so if you see 11:11′s or 1:11′s everywhere you go, take them as a sign you are on the right track! (Even though we never really fall off, the rails beneath us connecting us are often much stronger than we think.)
We see this date indeed as a powerful one, indeed, but perhaps for a different reason. Just as all Reiki and energywork healing is essentially self-healing, all love begins with self-love. The way love works is simple: it begins inside you, for you, and then radiates out further and further until it reaches other beings and life around you. We see the “ascension process” as an internal one, and that the Mayans perhaps saw this date as marking a new cycle when humans will finally start recognizing what powerful beings they are.
We can do anything, people, we just have to recognize we can. And what better way to be empowered than to give yourself the Reiki Power symbol? Perhaps even picture it in every cell of your body, or power it up times a million for your healing pleasure.
One Mayan Elder we spoke with by the name of Miguel Angel Vergara sees this powerful time as an especially important one for women (and for the feminine energies within us all.) Women have been disempowered for so, so long, and he sees this new age as a dawn, if you will, for the new feminine to emerge. So embracing your nurturing side with some self-healing with Reiki and by giving yourself the unconditional love and support symbols is a good idea too.
So, on the eve of this special day, a day when the planets are aligned just right for a massive shift in human consciousness, we wish you the best of the best in your life.
This world is a beautiful one, made even perhaps more so by the healing gift of Reiki, and days like December 21, 2012 are when we can remember that. So, celebrate the miracle that is you tomorrow, and every day thereafter too.
Today we wanted to talk about the freedom you have available every time you practice the healing art of Reiki. Yes, there is a traditional way to send Reiki that we teach all the students in our Reiki training classes, and yes, Dr. Usui and others have received specific symbols for specific purposes.
However, you should feel free to do what feels right whenever you practice Reiki. We teach our Reiki students to say the disclaimer before they turn their Reiki on, as well as to call in their guides, ancestors, the seven directions, angels and anyone they feel called to help them with the Reiki session. But at the same time, maybe you just want to say to yourself, “Reiki On” and have that include everything.
Or perhaps you’re driving down the street, and you see a dejected boy walking with his head down who could surely benefit from some Reiki. Are you going to say the disclaimer and go through the whole “shibang”, or are you just going to picture in your mind’s eye the Power symbol being sent to every cell in the boy’s body?
The beauty of knowing the symbols with every part of your being is that you can do whatever you want with them! Additionally, once you receive the Reiki attunement, which we do at the beginning of the first class (a Reiki I training class, for example, meets once a week for an hour for four weeks), you will forever be attuned to the beautiful healing energy that is Reiki. If you don’t use the Reiki it will lie dormant until you use it again. And the more you practice your Reiki, the stronger it will get. But it is always available to you for the rest of your life.
Perhaps for all your future lifetimes as well, the jury is still out on that one. Although, we here at Reiki Training Classes believe your soul receives the attunements. One of our Reiki Master teachers, upon receiving her Reiki Master attunement, broke down in tears and kept saying, “I’ve waited a long time for this.” She felt that had come out of nowhere, since hadn’t waited very long in this lifetime. But when Dr. Usui first began to teach Reiki, students had to wait years before receiving the next level of attunement. Often, they never made it to the Reiki Master level.
So, who says you have to adhere to a strict use of Reiki? Or that you simply must spend one minute on each position on the body? While there is certainly a benefit to honoring tradition and not reinventing the wheel, when we follow a dogma or certain way of doing things religiously without sometimes asking, “Why?” we deny ourselves the pleasure of discovering new ways to use Reiki.
Obviously, when Dr. Usui discovered Reiki, there was no Internet. And many people, ourselves included here at Reiki Training Classes, believe the Internet came about mainly to allow people to exchange ideas. This is the Information Age, after all. And what better way to change mass consciousness than through online means? That’s the main reason we’re developing our online Reiki classes curriculum, because we believe it to be the best way to spread the healing Reiki as far and wide as possible.
We also attune all the students in our Reiki Master training course with the blank symbol so that any symbols they are supposed to receive can be downloaded directly to them. They may be meant to share the symbol they receive with others, or it may be specifically for them to utilize and take full advantage of. There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to the magical powers of Reiki.
So be creative with your Reiki! If everything is energy, as the quantum physicists have proved, why not combine Reiki with other techniques and healing modalities? Try different strategies.
Maybe you want to send Reiki as you massage a loved one and picture it flowing through your hands; perhaps you put a Power symbol over your head as you meditate and intend for it to stay there all day long, giving you support and positive energy.
We humans know what to do to heal ourselves and others. The inherent wisdom we each hold inside is astounding. If we just become still long enough to hear that voice inside, we could surely heal this world.
So while you will learn how the proven, set healing structure of Reiki works, also know this: You will always have the Reiki energy available at your fingertips (literally). How you decide to use it is up to you.
There are a number of ways to manifest: affirmations, visualization, action, using the Reiki manifestation symbol and sending positive Reiki forward in time toward the desired outcome… the list goes on and on.
Today we want to focus specifically on using Reiki with affirmations so you can allow what you want to happen to actually happen. In other words, how you can get out of your own way : D.
We assume most of you are familiar with what affirmations are, but just in case you’re not, affirmations are proclamations that you say to yourself that will greatly help you have the life you want. How do affirmations work? You can either say them aloud or silently, put them on post-its around your home or on flash cards you look at each day.
Affirmations work through repetition. Essentially, every time you say or read an affirmation, you alter your subconscious beliefs about the world and yourself. Thoughts we think over and over again create grooves in our brain, and eventually become deep-rooted beliefs. But the good news is that you can create new grooves and render the old ones obsolete. When you think new, positive thoughts, the old grooves literally get replaced by the new ones. Amazing, huh? We think so.
Types of affirmations You Can Empower with Reiki
You can literally create affirmations for anything you want to see in your life. Here are a few common examples…
A great idea is to say them aloud as you look at yourself in the mirror. Mirror work isn’t necessarily easy, and it may be really hard at first, but the more you do it, the stronger those thoughts become in your day-to-day.
You can say ten a day, or maybe just pick one for each day and focus your intention on that particular affirmation for the day. We love to put them on flashcards and then choose one “at random”, even though our spirit guides and angels and higher selves and what not probably have a good laugh over the idea of “randomness”.
Sometimes you may not believe your affirmations at first, since they may be contrary to the existing grooves you have in your brain. You may want to add, “I love” before your affirmation. For example, if your affirmation is “I have more than enough money,” but your rational mind just doesn’t quite believe it, you can say, “I love having more than enough money.” Since that is most likely true (!), your rational, conscious mind won’t interfere with the affirmation.
And since the focus is on adding Reiki to your affirmations, power them up! You can Reiki your flashcards, draw Reiki symbols on your affirmations and even imbue them with the healing Reiki energy with the Imbuement Symbol. In our Reiki II Course, we attune our Reiki students with the Manifestation Symbol, the Imbuement Symbol and the Long Distance Healing Symbol. The Long Distance Symbol heals through time, so you can send Reiki into the future.
There are literally unlimited ways to incorporate your Reiki training into your everyday life. Starting the day with Reiki, affirmations, and visualization too can really start your day off right, as can filling your mind with positive thoughts and Reiki right before you go to sleep at night.
Our bottom line is, always remember how powerful you are. You can create the life and the world you want, and using Reiki to lend powerful healing energy to your thoughts will only help you manifest that much faster. So, try Reiki-ing your affirmations and see for yourself how you can use your abilities and gifts to your full advantage. The healing Reiki energy and affirmations are, indeed, a winning combination.
We at Reiki Training Classes can’t stress the importance of good body mechanics when you give a healing Reiki energy session enough. For both you and for the recipient, you want to have a straight, yet relaxed spine.
At the beginning of every in-person Reiki class we teach, we inevitably have to remind our students of this again and again. Students of our Reiki courses are usually focused so intently on “doing it right” (which you can’t do it “wrong” by the way!) and on their client that they forget about themselves.
While you DO want to get out of the way as much as possible in terms of thinking and your mind, you always want to make sure you stay comfortable. Why are body mechanics so important when you practice Reiki?
Let us count the ways…
After all, Reiki is known as “hands on healing”! You are “sharing” energy with the client during the session, which means they can easily pick up on any stress or tension you feel. And if your body feels uncomfortable, you will likely be noticing that, as will they. (As an aside, this is also why we teach all our students to separate their energy from their clients after every session.)
And there you have it… the four main reasons why you want to be comfortable and have good body mechanics during your healing energy session. The Reiki will flow better, you will protect your back and the client will feel more relaxed and at ease.
So many people take Reiki training classes and courses because they are healers and want to help others. This is a noble intention, but remember that all healing is essentially self-healing. Only when you feel whole, healthy and comfortable in yourself can you help others heal themselves.
So practice good posture during your Reiki session, and save yourself from needing Reiki for a sore back afterward!
As human beings, our fascination with past lives will probably never go away. Does your previous life as a servant contribute to your less-than stellar self-esteem today? Does your love of beautiful things come from when you lived as royalty? Do certain writers, actors or stars of yesterday seem to speak directly to you? Perhaps more interestingly, when you just know the person you just met and feel an instant connection, does that stem from a past life too?
Luckily, with people seeing mainstream movies like Cloud Atlas, we as a culture are becoming more and more familiar with the concept of past lives. The beauty of Reiki, (particularly the long distance healing symbol) is that you can send Reiki to your past lives and watch your world transform right before your eyes.
Because we know that you deserve to live the life you came here for, even if previous experiences (either in this lifetime or others) have clouded that vision a bit. Time to get your confidence in all that you are with Reiki!
In our Reiki II Online Course, you receive a Reiki attunement that includes the distance healing symbol. This powerful Reiki symbol, handed down to Dr. Mikao Usui from Spirit or Source itself, allows you as the Reiki practitioner to send the healing energy across space and time. Which means you can definitely send it to yourself as you were in past lives, as well as the soul part of you that lives eternal.
So, if you know the Distance Healing Symbol and are ready, here’s how you can heal your past lives with Reiki energy:
Viewing your Akashic records in a past-life Reiki healing session takes practice, so go very easy on yourself and know that whatever arises is absolutely perfect. You may see yourself in a library session, images or feelings may arise, or you may see absolutely nothing. Still, you can trust that the Reiki will be healing even if your mind is blank. Everyone’s experience is different.
Regardless of whether the experiences are loving and feel good, or scary and sad, stay with them. They are being shown to you for a reason, and you need not know what that is for you to heal. These memories are coming up so you can feel them, experience them, process them and then let them go. Just think of all the room for positivity you’ll have afterward!
You will just know when your Reiki session is complete, and finish the session as you normally would. You may want to write down any memories that you had while they are still fresh in your mind.
A wonderful book to read about past lives is Many Lives, Many Masters by Brian Weiss.
So there you have it. Try and see! You may just find (as we did) that by getting rid of old emotional beliefs and patterns you hold from previous lives, your life will change dramatically. You will understand your soul, and hopefully have that much more compassion and love for yourself. So have fun meeting you…
The beauty of working with the healing Reiki energy is that you can use it alongside virtually every other healing modality out there. Are you a massage therapist? Turn your Reiki on before every session. Hang the power symbol above your table and watch your clients’ reaction. Do you use another type of energy medicine or energy work? Blend your Reiki seamlessly into it too!
The intelligent Reiki energy only works for the highest good of all concerned, so you never have to worry about it backfiring or creating any “negative” or unwanted effects. Reiki can be the perfect complement to any medications or supplements you may be taking as well. For example, if you currently take probiotics or Salmon Oil or any tinctures, Reiki the bottles and ask that the Reiki energy help your body receive the nutrients and benefits.
More and more hospitals are recognizing Reiki as a valuable addition to surgeries and people with illnesses. The prestigious Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York allows Reiki practitioners to work with people recovering from surgery; the National Institute of Health has used Reiki in their palliative care unit since 2000.
As anyone who has received a Reiki treatment or received a Reiki attunement can attest, the power of healing with hands and Reiki’s potential is undeniable. So, turn your Reiki on anytime you need it. Why not use all the powers at your fingertips? (pun intended.)
