Reiki Training Classes and Courses

A healing Reiki session in full effect

What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced ray-kee), is a Japanese healing technique developed by Dr. Mikao Usui in 1904. The term Reiki means ‘universal life force energy’. This healing energy flows through a Reiki practitioner once he or she has been attuned to the healing Reiki energy, usually in Reiki training classes and courses.

A Reiki master

This will be you taking advantage of the healing Reiki energy. In your own way, of course.

A Reiki student who has been opened up to this energy is then able to act as a conduit for the healing energy to flow to themselves, other people and situations or objects. Virtually anything can be given Reiki!

Though the Reiki energy is not limited by space or time, when a Reiki master gives an in-person Reiki treatment, they often place their hands in different positions on or over the body. Therefore, many people refer to Reiki as hands-on-healing.

Who Developed Reiki?

Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist, developed Reiki in 1904 as he looked for a way to heal people like Buddha and Christ did.  (We’re grateful to him for doing so!)

Dr. Usui on Reiki Training Classes .org

Dr. Mikao Usui, founder of Reiki

After Dr. Usui fell severely ill from an illness that swept through Kyoto and almost died, he became determined to develop a spiritual healing practice that could cure any disease and be easily taught to anyone.

He went to Mt. Kurama-yama near Kyoto, where Dr. Usui spend 21 days meditating on life. Supposedly, during this time Dr. Usui realized the power of working with ‘ki’ (life force energy) and shaped his newfound knowledge into the beautiful spiritual healing practice we call Reiki.

After returning from Mt. Kurama-yama, Dr. Usui spent seventeen years honing the practice, and rumor has it he taught over 2,000 people how to use the Reiki energy in his lifetime.

How can you use your Reiki training?

  • to heal yourself
  • to help others heal themselves
  • on animals
  • on situations (past, present and future)

The ways to use what you learn in your Reiki training class or course are virtually endless. First of all, you can use the Reiki energy to heal yourself of physical, mental and emotional issues. You can help facilitate other people’s healing, you can power up your food with Reiki, you can clear rooms or entire buildings with Reiki just as you could with sage.

Reiki classes online

Be the change you want to see in the world.

We at Reiki Training Classes .org have incorporated Reiki into our lives so much that we use it at every turn.

Is there a ton of traffic on the freeway? (We do live in LA, after all.) Use the safe clearing Reiki symbol to help clear your path.

Do you have a job interview coming up? Send Reiki ahead of time to both the interview and the people in it.  Does your ankle hurt? Send healing Reiki energy to it, and watch the time it takes for your ankle to heal decrease a lot.

Time and time again, without fail we see the intelligent Reiki energy work its healing magic. That’s why we created a site dedicated to Reiki training classes  and courses. Everyone should be attuned to the powerful Reiki energy. The world would be a much better place.

What to look for in a Reiki training class or course

The article How to Find the Right Online Reiki Course goes into further detail, but there are a few things you definitely want to look for. You want to make sure you get a good feeling from the teacher, that the price works for you, that you’ve decided whether you want to go with an online Reiki class or an in-person one, and if you can hear testimonials from previous Reiki students.

Are online Reiki classes as good as Reiki courses in-person?

Reiki class online

Reiki energy knows no space nor time

Though some Reiki Masters feel that Reiki attunements must be passed down in person, many Masters offer classes online and from a distance. The Reiki energy is not limited by time or space, so technically an attunement from an online Reiki class should work just as well as an in-person attunement. We discuss the pros and cons in Taking Reiki Classes Online – The Pros and Cons.

What to bring to your Reiki training course

  • you, yourself and an open mind
  • comfortable clothes, i.e. no tight belts or pants that restrict your breath and would prevent the healing Reiki energy from flowing through you
  • clean feet – you’ll take off your shoes during the class Reiki attunements

    healing the world with Reiki

Send Reiki out into the cosmos

  • pictures or objects to send Reiki to – only if your Reiki Master teaching the Reiki training suggests. (We like to have our students imbue objects with healing Reiki   energy or send Reiki long-distance to people in photos during our Level II Reiki training classes.

What to look for in a portable Reiki table

Now you know we have an article on this very topic, right? What can we say, we did our homework.  Please read How to Find the Best Portable Reiki Table. But we will give some quick pointers here when looking for a portable Reiki table:

EarthLite Reiki Table

Our favorite portable Reiki Table

  • Decide if you want a metal or wood portable Reiki table
  • Ask any massage therapists and Reiki masters you know about their portable tables
  • Go with an EarthLite Reiki table! Okay, so we promised ourselves we would be impartial. But we couldn’t resist. We find the Earthlite Reiki tables superior to the rest. We especially love their commitment to this beautiful planet of ours.

EarthLite even has a ‘Plant a Tree Promise’ that they will plant a tree for every one wood massage table they make. Wow. What can  we say, EarthLite Reiki tables = good in our eyes.

The Reiki training course attunement process

Reiki course training

May the healing Reiki energy help you bloom and blossom.

Now, of course the Reiki attunement process you will go through in your Reiki course will vary according to the Level, type of Reiki, whether you are taking a Reiki class online, etc. Moreover, each Reiki Master creates the space and adds in additional tools they feel enhance the attunement.

However, there are some commonalites. For the purposes of consistency, let’s look at an in-person Reiki attunement now rather than one you might find in an online Reiki course.

Typically, the Reiki master attuning you will advise you to take off your shoes and sit in an upright position. He or she may create a sacred space using tools such as healing sage, music, dim lighting, etc. Next, they will ask you to close your eyes as they perform the Reiki attunement. You will probably feel some air going into your head and their hands touching your hands and feet.

Reiki attunements can happen very quickly, in about five minutes, or they can last for a half an hour. You may feel powerful sensations as your body opens up to the Universal Life Force energy, or you may feel nothing. Afterward, you may feel energized, or completely drained.

Just know that whatever you feel is exactly what you’re supposed to be feeling. We always get what we need. (Even if it doesn’t always feel that way!) You are always on your path. So be happy your path includes Reiki!

A Reiki attunment

Reiki on the 3rd eye

Unfortunately, we can’t really go into more detail about how the healing Reiki energy is transmitted. That knowledge is reserved for Reiki Masters. So take a Master Reiki training course when you feel ready why don’t you…

What to expect from your Reiki training class attunement

healing Reiki

If only we could see the Reiki energy like this!

Now, there is no easy way to say this. The Reiki energy is so loving, and so light, that it will bring to the surface that within you that is not of the same frequency so you can heal it and transform that energy into positivie energy.

(Because remember, energy never ‘dies’. It merely becomes transmuted and changes from one frequency to another.)

So, without further ado, we bring to you the Reiki attunement ‘healing process’. Trust us, it is not as bad as it seems!

The 21 day Reiki attunement ‘Healing Process’ you may go through

As the Reiki energy circulates through your body over the next few months, your body will be majorly adjusting. Many Reiki practitioners have experienced strong emotions and healing during the first 21 days following their attunement. But you may not. The powerful, wise Reiki energy knows when you are ready to heal.

Reiki chakra work

Your seven main chakras

Since our bodies have seven major chakras, or energy centers, during this 21 day post-Reiki attunement period it is said that the Reiki circulates through each of the chakras for three days.

So, for example, as the Reiki energy circulates through your Manipura chakra, (your chakra of personal power, will and self-esteem), you may have any issues surrounding these areas arise.

Most of us here can attest to the 21 day healing, and were shocked at how the Reiki energy really did move like clockwork every three days to the next chakra (and corresponding issues.)  But you will get through it!  It is extremely temporary, and just knowing you are going through this process will hopefully make it easier. One woman here didn’t know about the 21 day period until we explained it to her! She had to go through the 21 days thinking she was crazy.

healing with Reiki

What you will be learning to cultivate in your Reiki class. Pretty cool, huh?

Therefore, we want to make sure you know about the possibility, but also that you stay open to the fact you may not experience it. Either way, know you are healing in some way.

Tips to get through your Reiki attunement

Though the days following your Reiki attunement from your Reiki course may be challenging, use these tips to not only survive, but thrive. It is possible!

1. Keep a journal about your experiences.

Writing is therapeutic in so many ways. It helps you get your feelings out, out, out so they’re not stored in your body as energy blockages you don’t want.

2. Talk to the Reiki Master teaching your Reiki training class.

Whether your Reiki training is in-person or an online Reiki class, you should still have the full support of the Reiki Master teaching the Reiki course. They have undoubtedly gone through the same process you are, and your Reiki class should include their support as part of the deal. Getting imput from someone who has been there and gotten through it can be quite valuable.

Reiki electricity

Remember… the Reiki light is healing your body, even if it doesn’t feel like it!

3. Interact in our Reiki community forum! (which is coming very, very soon)

By sharing your experiences with other people going through the same thing, you will find the support and encouragement you need. You will receive feedback from other Reiki practitioners on how they got through their Reiki attunements, and may discover ways of coping you never even thought of.

4. Remember that this too shall pass

Although that isn’t always enough when you are going through something, hopefully you can take comfort in the fact that the only constant is change. When you’re upset, that is never your final emotion. (Likewise when you are happy!)  So try and remember as best you can that you are healing, that yes, you will get through this, and that you will be so much stronger and healthier on the other side.

Adding Reiki Crystal Healing to your Reiki course training

Amethyst Reiki crystal

Since purple is the official Reiki color, after all…

Crystals such as the amethyst to the left can be wonderful additions to the Reiki treatments you learn to give in your Reiki classes.  Since each type of crystal contains a different type of healing energy, you can use the crystal associated with the particular issue you are working on and create a crystal Reiki healing sesison.

Of course, maybe you are just giving a general Reiki treatment and not treating a particular issue, chakra, or section of the body. No worries, the healing Reiki energy knows where to go! But adding crystals can only help increase the effectiveness and power of the Reiki

You may want to create a crystal grid under your portable Reiki table before you start the Reiki session, or perhaps even place the crystals on the recipient’s body during the Reiki crystal healing treatment.

Reiki crystal grid

A beautiful grid for healing upper chakra issues

The seven main chakras in our bodies each correspond to a particular color, so if you’re unsure of which crystals would best accompany your crystal Reiki healing session, you can always put a crystal that’s the same color as that chakra in your grid when you first begin to utilize the magical power of crystals.

Sometimes, a crystal may be appropriate for the beginning of a session, but as the time passes, it no longer feels necessary. Use your intuition and discretion to remove the crystal from the grid, doing so in a gentle fashion so as not to disturb the existing energy. Perhaps the person receiving the Reiki fully absorbed all the healing properties the stone had to offer. Regardless of how you use the crystals in your Reiki crystal healing session, we bet that once you start, you will use them in all your Reiki treatments to come. We do!

Sometimes, if we don’t have a crystal on hand and get the hit to use it in a Reiki session, we visualize ourselves leaving our bodies, going home to get the crystal and bringing it back to be used in the Reiki crystal healing session. After all, as you learn in Reiki healing classes, your intention is what matters.

Use aromatherapy to enhance your Reiki course teachings

aromatherapy in Reiki treatments

Complement your Reiki session with some relaxing lavender oil

Aromatherapy has been used for thousands of years to help heal countless ailments. Peppermint, for example, is very beneficial for headaches or for feeling more alert.

If you are about to perform a Reiki session and your clients arrives noticeably stressed out and anxious, perhaps some soothing lavender oil will do the trick and calm their minds. (You can always send your clients Reiki when they are en route to come see you, by the way.) But always make sure your client isn’t allergic to the oil you want to use and ask them beforehand if they’d like to receive the aromatherapy.

The Five Reiki principles

Dr. Mikao Usui, the founder of Reiki, also gave us five wonderful principles to abide by in the practice of Reiki:

Reiki healing principles

powerful words to live by

  1. Just for today, I will not be angry.  Letting go of anger brings peace.
  2. Just for today, I will not worry. Letting go of worry brings healing.
  3. Just for today, I will be grateful. Being grateful brings contentment.
  4. Just for today, I will do my work honestly. Doing honest work brings purpose.
  5. Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing. Being kind brings love into your life.

Creating a sacred space for your Reiki sessions

Hopefully your Reiki training course or class was taught in a relaxing, healing environment. If you had the luxury of learning William Rand’s style of Reiki in Hawaii, for example, it almost certainly was. (Can you tell we have Kauai on the brain?). But even if your Reiki class isn’t taught here:

William Rand Reiki in Kauai

Kauai – the home of William Rand Reiki

Learn Reiki in Sedona

or here:

Your Reiki training class should still be taught in a relaxed setting. Luckily, sacred space can be created virtually anywhere!  Hopefully your Reiki master instructor created sacred space for your Reiki courses and taught you how to create sacred space when you work on your own Reiki clients. Even if not, low lighting, crystal salt lamps and grids, small water fountains, aromatherapy, candles and relaxing music can work wonders.   You want your Reiki sessions to be conducted in an environment where your clients feel safe, supported and away from the worries of the day.

The Reiki Disclaimer Reiki class teachings

Before sending Reiki, you always want to use the disclaimer beforehand. (Which you should have learned in your Reiki class!) You can call out the specific person or situation you want to send the Reiki too specifically, or you can use a generic disclaimer such as, “Anything and everything, anything and everything, anything and everything. You are free to accept or reject the Reiki energy. Reiki is healing, harmonizing and balancing.”

By using the disclaimer, you ensure that you don’t accrue any karma by sending energy to someone or something who doesn’t want to receive it. If you  believe in karma, that is. Which we do.

Use your Reiki course training to work on animals

You will probably be hard-pressed to find an animal who doesn’t love Reiki. Since animals don’t have the same resistance to healing that many of us do (thanks to our good ole’ egos), most animals are very receptive to receiving the healing energy.

animal Reiki

Sedona’s Little Bamboo certainly loves her Reiki!

Some animals may be frightened of humans, of course, and if so you can always use the distance healing symbol learned in the Reiki Level II training class to send them Reiki from a distance. The gentle, healing Reiki energy benefits both healthy animals and those in need of special care or assistance.Reiki training on pets

For healthy animals, Reiki offers them a profound sense of relaxation and well-being. For pets with behavorial problems or ill animals, Reiki is a complementary modality to other healing methods like acupuncture and Western medicine. For pets making the transition to leave the Earth plane, receiving Reiki can offer them great comfort and help ease any anxiety they feel. As with everything you send Reiki healing energy to, you always want to use the Reiki disclaimer you should have learned in your Reiki training classes. After all, animals are people too, at least in our book. Here are some ways to read the animals you’d like to send Reiki to:Reiki for a dogs chakras

2. If you are sending an animal Reiki and they suddenly change positions or lift their head to look at you, this could very well be a sign they want the Reiki energy focused on a different area of their body. Or perhaps you were touching them, and now they’d prefer you to keep your hands a few inches above them. As all of us with pets know, animals can definitely get their point across!

3. If you are giving Reiki to a client and your cat or dog won’t stay away, this is a sure sign they would love some healing Reiki energy of their own to enjoy. One Reiki Master here at Reiki Training Classes says that every time she goes home after finishing teaching a Reiki course or giving an attunement, her five cats cannot get enough of  her.

Your Reiki Bank Account

In your Level II Reiki training class, you will  most likely learn the distance healing symbol. Since this symbol not only transcends space, but also time, you will be able to send Reiki healing energy forward and backward in your life. While you can (and should!) spend time healing your past issues (that we all have, who do you know who’s exempt?), why not spend some time focusing on your future and what you want to bring into your life. And send a lil’ positive Reiki energy to your future while you’re at it.Reiki bank account

Starting a Reiki bank account is an excellent way to do this. Draw the distance healing symbol as you learned in your Reiki class, and send it to situations you know are coming up in the future for you, as well as your future self five, ten years from now. If you learned the symbols for Infinite Grace, Manifestation or Grounding (to ground ideas into reality in this 3rd dimension we currently live in), send those symbols to your path to help you change with ease, grace and the support of the Universe. Well, the Universe is always supporting us, but you know what we mean. Sending Reiki energy to your future self can never be a bad thing. Who couldn’t use more Reiki in their life?

Complementary modalities to your Reiki course teachings

The beauty of Reiki is that you can use what you learn in your Reiki training courses alongside literally every other healing modality you can think of. You can add Reiki to:

  • massage
  • traditional Western medicine
  • Chinese medicine and acupuncture
  • other energywork or bodywork techniques
  • sound healing
  • Reiki color therapy

Color therapy, not to digress too far from Reiki, is the practice of adding color into a person’s bodies and energy field to promote healing. Different colors have different healing properties and are often associated with the same colors in the chakra system. For example, if the recipient is angry and you feel hot energy emanating from them, or if they have pain in a specific area, you can send focused blue energy directly into that area.

Reiki healing classes

Cooling blue energy

Or, if you are performing a Reiki session (using the techniques from your Reiki training, of course!) and you intuitively are drawn to the clients’ heart, in addition to sending love and compassion that way through your hands, you can send green and pink energies there as well. These are the two energies associated with the heart.

Of course, it goes without saying that if you learned the Heart Healing Reiki symbol or the symbol for Unconditional Love in your Reiki training class, send those there as well!  Coming at the problem or issue from varying levels only makes your Reiki session that much stronger.

The degrees or levels in Usui Reiki training classes In traditional Usui Reiki, the Reiki training classes are typically divided into three separate Reiki courses: Level I, Level II and the Master Level Reiki training. Though in a lot of Reiki class offerings online and in-person you are able to reach the Master Level quite quickly, you may want to allow time between each Reiki course before moving on to the next one.Reik Master

Here’s why: You might go through the always-enjoyable 21 day healing process we mentioned above. But even if you don’t, over the next months after a Reiki attunement your body gradually adjusts to being able to transduce the healing Reiki energy. One thing is certain: No one has ever walked away from a Reiki attunement without being changed in some way for the better. So let your body absorb the healing and fully process it. Life is a journey, not a destination, right? Secondly, there is no substitute for experience, and you will learn so much above and beyond your Reiki training class in your practical application of the Reiki. Finally, when Dr. Usui first created the Reiki healing tradition in Japan, Reiki students often had to wait years between attunements. Most Reiki students never even reached the Master Level trainings. So hold your horses, will ya? You are exactly where you are supposed to be.

Reiki Level I Training Class

So, let’s discuss a Reiki Level I Course. In this initial and basic Reiki training class, you will receive an attunement that allows you to transduce the Reiki healing energy. You will learn about Dr. Mikao Usui, the Reiki founder, as well as the principles it is founded on and what you can use Reiki for. At the discretion of the Reiki Master teaching the Reiki class, you may or may not be attuned to the basic Reiki symbols such as the Power Symbol and the Love Symbol.

healing Reiki symbol

Reiki symbols enhance your Reiki sessions

We at Reiki Training Classes do teach our Level I Reiki training students these two symbols and a couple more in the Level I training because we want the students to get used to incorporating symbols into their Reiki sessions.

Reiki Level II Training CourseReiki classes ignite the fire within

Remember: the more you use what you learn in your Reiki healing class, the stronger your Reiki becomes.

Master Level Reiki Classes

In a Master Level healing Reiki training class, you are attuned with all the symbols and are taught how to attune others. After this Reiki course, you will know how to give permanent attunements, temporary attunements, and deepen your Reiki practice even further.

In our Master Level Reiki courses we teach multiple traditions and attune our students with symbols from traditional Usui Reiki, William Rand Reiki, Tibetan Reiki, Karuna Reiki and Seichem Reiki, among others. We want our Reiki class students to have the full array of tools to use in their healing sessions.

Purple Reiki healing

You never know who your Reiki may help…

With the Master Reiki class attunement also comes responsibility. Even if you decide not to attune others or teach Reiki courses yourself, you still have a responsibility to practice Reiki in your own way and help spread the healing Reiki energy. Which you will want to, of course. Because in addition to being healing, harmonizing and balancing, sending Reiki is fun!

 Reiki Lists

While of course we wish we had all the time in the world to send Reiki to everyone and everything we know needs it, in our busy lives we often aren’t able to find the time to do so. Let alone remember everyone we want to send Reiki to!  So what you can do is write a Reiki list of everything you want to send Reiki healing energy to, and then set the intention as you turn on your Reiki that everything on your list will receive the Reiki healing as needed.

pen for Reiki lists

Add to your Reiki list by writing everything down in purple. Why not?

As each person, item or situation on your list receives the maximum Reiki healing they are capable of for that day, the sage Reiki will automatically stop flowing to that person and move on to the next item on the Reiki list.

Reiki healing

A Reiki handshake

We also keep a list of all the Reiki symbols and send them to the list each day, so as not to forget any. Perhaps someone can use the forgiveness symbol! You never know. And of course, remember to put yourself on your list. No one deserves the healing Reiki energy more than you do.

  1. Hi There from Japan. I am learning my English and arrived to this page. Just want to say how much I respect reading what you write about Reiki every time you post. Can you please e-mail me the next time you post. Thanks

    • Hi there from sunny Southern California Umi! Thanks for your nice comment, we’re always amazed when we think about how easy it is to communicate with people halfway around the world. To stay abreast of our latest posts, we are shooting for adding a new one each day. So if you come by every couple days or add us to your RSS feed, you should get all the latest and greatest! Sayonara for now…

  2. I just thought you might want to know that your blog looks messed when I see it on my iphone. Im not sure if it has something to do with my phones browser or your website? just saying

    • Thanks for your comment, Eddie. We are the first ones to admit that our skill sets lie more in the realm of spirituality, Reiki and healing than computers. We will forward this on to our IT guy and see if he can fix it!

  3. I enjoy coming back daily to see your thoughts about Reiki. I must admit that I was very skeptical at first, especially since I am trained in traditional Western medicine. But after seeing the great improvement my sister made after her diagnosis with Reiki, I have become much more open to alternative methods of healing. I have your blog bookmarked on my daily read list!

    • Dr. Hensler,

We greatly appreciate your taking the time to share how your view on Reiki has changed. Thank you thank you thank you! We love for the students in our Reiki training courses to hear from skeptics who have since ‘seen the light’, or ‘light energy’ I guess we should say regarding Reiki. Virtually every teacher here has also gone through a period of skepticism or uncertainty and thought to himself or herself, “Does Reiki really work?” “Am I crazy or making it up?” But after the healing Reiki energy proves itself time and time again, there is simply no choice but to believe. We have added your sister to our Reiki healing list, and look forward to continuing to share the news about this powerful healing energy.

  4. hi all,

i just had my reiki I attunement online. i could absolutely 100% feel the energy coming in. i was a little skeptical at first, but now i am a believer about the reiki energy moving through space and time. if anyone is thinking about taking online Reiki classes, i say go for it.

    take care,
    jay

    • Great news, Jay! Last time we heard from you, you were contemplating taking a Reiki class online versus on in-person. We are so happy to hear that you are happy with your decision to take Reiki classes online. If you need any support from those who have been through the Reiki attunement and not only survived but thrived, please let us know! We are happy to help out a fellow Reiki practitioner and send him or her this healing energy. Just say the word.

      Cheers,

The team at Reiki Training Classes

  5. I am working on this. Just for today, I will not be angry. Just for today, I will not be angry. Just for today, I will not be angry. The five Reiki principles really speak to me. Great site.

    • Hi Paul,

Good, we are glad to hear that. The Reiki principles are extremely powerful, aren’t they? We understand that it can be easier said than done to live by them, however. But by wanting to and setting your intention there, you are taking the first step. We have an article in the queue on tips to live by these principles every day. Stay tuned. If you are having difficulty with anger (which is very common, who doesn’t?), get it out. Getting your anger out how you need to in a constructive way is really helpful. Go beat a pillow, go to the batting cages, hit a punching bag or scream at the top of your lungs in your car. Write a letter to the person, or even just write words on a piece of paper to rip up when you’re finished. The words don’t have to make sense, and no need to reread them and take them back in. Just get it out, and fill up that space with Reiki energy by using the power symbol when you’re done. Good luck Paul.

  6. After reading this article, I browsed your website a bit and would love to see an article on what a Reiki treatment would look like from start to finish. I am interested in getting a Reiki session, but I want to know what to expect. If you write an article like this, will you please let me know? Thank you.

    • Hi Florentina Maria,

Thanks for your suggestion. We will definitely write an article about Reiki treatments and what to expect! The reason we haven’t written one yet is because we focus more on Reiki treatments and sessions from the perspective of the Reiki student learning this healing energy. We strive to provide prospective Reiki students who plan to take online Reiki classes and in-person courses with valuable insight for their journey. But hey, nothing wrong with writing about what to do in a Reiki treatment, right? We will email you when the article is ready to go!

  7. Hi Reiki Training Classes,

I noticed that you don’t offer online Reiki classes yet. Do you have any recommendations about where I can find the best ones? I live in Minnesota.

    Mahalia

    • Hi Mahalia,

You’re right. We don’t offer online Reiki courses yet, keyword being yet. We are working on it! To tell you the truth, we don’t have any specifically to recommend, since we are trying to remain objective and offer information to prospective Reiki students and practitioners alike. That being said, you want to go with a Reiki master that resonates with you and you feel good about. For further info, read our article How To Find the Right Online Reiki Course for You. Since we humans operate under the Law of Attraction, rest assured that you will attract the right teacher for you. Worst case scenario, if you end up having a bad experience (which we certainly hope isn’t the case!) you will learn valuable lessons. Everything that happens in our lives is working toward our best interests, even if we can’t always see that. Good luck!

    • Hi Tari,

Great question. Of course our answer really depends on the feeling you get about the Reiki Master teacher the Reiki course, whether the attunement is online or in-person, if the teacher will be available to you afterward, etc. However, in our personal experience, we have found that a Reiki Master Level training that is taught over the course of a few weeks definitely has worked best. By meeting with your Reiki instructor and sharing observations with the class, if you are going through the cleansing process that happens so often after an attunement, you will have the support you need. Also, we find that most students learn experientially, or by doing. And ‘doing’ in this situation involves coming to class, hearing other students’ experiences, practicing giving attunements to one another. Since you learn how to attune others in many Master Level Reiki trainings, you will definitely want to practice, and longer classes give you the time for the knowledge and confidence to sink in.

      Long answer, huh? ; )

So in a nutshell, if you feel the one-day Reiki master class is right for you, then go for it! But if you can find a longer Reiki course spread out over a few weeks, we encourage you to perhaps choose that option instead. Good luck!!!

  8. Cool beans. I’ve never heard of a Reiki bank account before, and I’ve taken Reiki classes all the way to the Master level.

  9. A million thanks for starting your Reiki site. When I first started doing Reiki, I had a hard time not feeling guilty because 90% of the time I was working on myself. I have gotten better, and reading your information helps me realize that I must work on myself before I can help others.

    • You’re absolutely right, Anabelle. It is natural to feel that guilt, since many healers get into the profession because they are caring, giving individuals. Also, they often have something to heal within themselves and that is why they are drawn to the work. So, rest assured that if you feel the need to work on yourself, it is for a reason. You will be so happy you did. Your future clients will too. The clearer a channel or transducer that you are for the Reiki energy, the easier it can pass through you and into the recipient during Reiki sessions and treatments. In the beginning, right after a Reiki attunement, you will need to work on yourself! All the old ‘stuff’ is coming up and out so you can release it. Though we want to thank it for how it served us (perhaps in the past, or even if it just brought us to the healer path), it is time to let it go. So hey, work on yourself to your heart’s content! Work on yourself, work on the world. ~ A Reiki Training Classes original, :D

    • What a beautiful comment Darla. Thank you : ) We love you too. Because in the end, love is all there is, right? We wish you all the best on your Reiki path and healing journey.

  10. Thank you for talking about the Reiki healing process. I definitely went through some crazy stuff after I got attuned and I didn’t expect that at all. Glad to see that it’s normal lol.

    • Hi Evan,

Yes, the natural cleansing process we undergo after a Reiki attunement is not only normal, but to be expected. Reiki students may not feel it immediately after the attunement, but over the course of the next year, even, let’s say, they general will feel it. Like we said in the article, though it’s not pleasant at the time, you are releasing old, limiting beliefs and energy blockages that will help you tremendously in living a healthier and happier life. The cleansing process is worth it.

      Thanks for your comment!

  11. I have found that creating a crystalline grid underneath my Reiki table greatly enhances the sensations my clients feel. Regardless of which stones I bring, I always put black tourmaline under the table in alignment with the clients’ root chakra. I find that the tourmaline always helps keep them grounded and present.

    • Thanks for sharing, Nina! That is great advice that we are sure our readers can benefit from. We personally have an abundance of hematite and thus use this metallic stone for grounding. We find that it really helps people stay in their bodies, especially since it can be quite tempting to leave when things get uncomfortable! But, as we all know, the healing happens when we stay present to whatever is happening in our body and whatever we are feeling. Only then can we release this emotional energy out of our bodies and energy fields and create space for more beneficial energies (and emotions and situations!) to enter. We will be writing a post shortly that discusses the various stones Reiki practitioners can put under their Reiki tables during sessions, but in the meantime and between time, does anyone else have a stone they use for a particular chakra? Do tell, do tell!

  12. Thanks for talking about what happens after a Reiki attunement. I have gone through considerable changes in the last year because of my attunement. Is it normal for the process to last so long?

    • It is entirely normal, Derek, even to be expected. While there many reports of those first 21 days following a Reiki attunement being particularly challenging, your entire system is reformulating itself to transmit the Reiki energy. We have undergone amazing changes since our Reiki attunements here, and they were years ago! But remember that you are always changing for the better, as you are healing. And the Reiki energy is helping you to heal. We wish you all the best Derek.

  13. My favorite suggestion you have during the time of your vibration rising is that This Too Shall Pass. Easy words, though they are not always that easy to apply to your life.

    • Hi Eagle Heart,

First of all, you have a beautiful name. We are sure it fits you to a tee. You are so right that remembering ‘this too shall pass’ during a crisis is not exactly an easy task. But what peace of mind it can bring. It helps you recall previous times in your life when you have gotten through rough patches and been all the stronger for them. The phrase also reminds us of the Law of Impermanence that governs all things in this Universe we live in. When something comes up, it is coming up so it can be healed.

All the love to you Eagle Heart.

    • Hi Svetlana,

We assume you are referring to the Reiki practitioner’s state of mind, yes? You probably are, since this is a website focusing on Reiki classes and courses. So, the answer is a bit complicated. To look at it from a quantum physicist’s perspective, the answer would be yes, since everything affects everything. For example, there is such a thing in Quantum Physics as ‘the Observer effect’. Physicists have seen that just be an object being observed by someone, the molecules and atoms of that object change. So, it would stand to reason that the Reiki practioner’s state of mind during the session would influence the entire session, including the Reiki energy.

However, have you ever heard of the ‘Wounded Healer’? Many great healers out there are attracted to the profession because of a deep need to heal something within themselves. And they are still able to perform amazing work, even if they haven’t fully healed something within themselves. In addition, the intelligent Reiki enery will only work for the highest good of all concerned, so were it to be negatively affected by the practitioner’s state of mind, we would think it would turn off.

Here’s what we suggest: Since your intention is so powerful, if you find yourself feeling bad and you have to do a session, simply put the intention out there that your session will offer healing to the client irrespective of your emotional state. Best of luck to you Svetlana.

  14. Hi Reiki Masters,

I am a little confused. If Reiki energy only works for the highest good, then why would I have to do the disclaimer? Why would someone possibly reject hte energy? Thanks.

    • Hi Adam,

      Great question, thanks for asking.

Yes, it is true that the healing Reiki energy will only work for the highest good of all concerned. But at the same time, we have this pesky little thing called ‘Free Will’ that is alive and well in the Universe. Each human being has free will to live their lives as they want, which can be viewed as both a blessing and a curse. For example, perhaps someone knows deep inside, perhaps subconsciously, that they are just not ready to meet their person yet. Perhaps they want to get some of their issues worked out beforehand. They may know that if they were to meet someone now, the person they attract wouldn’t be the best person for them long-term, since we attract people who are at the same level we are. This Reiki client may resist the Reiki symbol that speeds up manifestation, because they know subconsciously they are not ready.

You always want to do the disclaimer before every Reiki session, however, in order to ensure that you do not accrue any negative karma for ‘forcing’ a healing on someone or something. Even though the person can always reject the healing and the energy if they choose to, you will have to balance that karmic energy regardless. So by doing the Reiki disclaimer before every Reiki treatment, you ensure that you don’t. And, although not all karma is bad, in this case it would be ‘negative’, and who wants to accrue more karma anyway? Certainly not us!

We hope that adequately answered your question, Adam!

  15. i was looking for info on online reiki classes, and your site is really very informative about them and reiki. i have a much better idea about what to look for now. please keep writing and sharing your knowledge.

  16. Blessings and Greetings to All. Reiki is a very advanced spiritual practice that every person can carry out and greatly improve their life. I am very pleased that Reiki has taken off in the course of the past few years. It looks as though it will continue to grow too. Great news for us as the time has come for a new way of thinking and living to exist on the Earth Plane.

    • Yes, yes, yes Adam. We completely agree with you. This Earth (and the people on it) are definitely changing. Sometimes at the speed of light it seems! Thank you for your very insightful and eloquent comment. We can feel the love you have for humanity coming through your words.

  17. Getting Reiki has made my life much better. I’ve always believed that life is what you make it, but it can’t hurt to have a little help from up above, seen.

    • Irie Dawta,

You are absolutely right. While that is true, life is what we make it (and this is a beautiful life), the Universal Life Force Energy that flows during Reiki sessions has such a beneficial and balancing effect on our bodies. It really is a miraculous healing system we have been blessed with. Why not take advantage? Wink wink.

  18. I am a waitress and I put Reiki symbols over all my tables. The other waitresses complain about low tips, but I always seem to do just fine! :)

    • Great idea, Shenandoah! You have a beautiful name, by the way. That is very smart. Imagine what would happen if you even put Reiki into each dish that you serve or intended at the start of your shift that all the food you serve contributes to your customers’ health? Just an idea…

  19. I learned in my online Reiki class that you should always ask the person you’re sending Reiki to if they want you to touch them or not. Just a tip.

    • Hi Gavin, yes, you are right, that is an important step to take before a Reiki session. In our touch-deprived society, many people are uncomfortable with being touched, unfortunate as it is.

Although most people who seek out Reiki treatments understand that some light touching may be involved, you still always want to ask your client “May I touch you?” at the beginning of the session. This is particularly useful is you are out doing Reiki outreach at a hospital or elderly center, for example. With strangers, you always want to respect their comfort levels. Even if someone doesn’t want to be touched, kudos to him or her for accepting the Reiki energy! Everyone will come around, sooner or later…

Good luck with your Reiki practice, Gavin!

    • Wow, thanks so much Karen! We understand, when we find a new website with information we don’t know, it’s so exciting! Glad we can do that for another human being. A thousand ‘you’re welcomes…”

    • Hi Shelby,

Great question. In our experience, it started with the crown chakra and worked its way down. Which makes sense, since attunements happen at the crown.

However, and unfortunately we must stress this, the 21 days is no hard and fast rule. If emotions and stored energy is coming up that a person has suppressed for years, it often takes more than 21 days to fully clear. Some of our healing processes took well over a year.

At the same time, however, more and more we are finding that life is as easy or as hard as we make it out to be. We are the cause of our suffering, which is good news, since we can be the solution as well. What if life was easy and we could be healed simultaneously? (Not that any of us here have managed to maintain that full sense of trust all the time, mind you ; ) ) But it’s something to strive for…

  20. How do I know when my Reiki clients have gotten all the energy they need? What I mean is, how do I know when a Reiki session is over? Thank you for your response.

    • Hi Wendy,

Intuitively, you will know. We hope that isn’t too annoying of an answer for you! ; ) But while your Higher Self may know when the session is over, the you in your body giving the session may have a harder time. So… here are a couple tips:

      1. Have you ever been giving a Reiki session and the client suddenly feels much cooler to you? Like there is hardly any energy left. They may be experiencing what we call the “Reiki cool”, where they have received all the healing Reiki energy their body can handle at that time. So if you feel a noticeable cooling in the client’s energy field, this is a strong sign the session is complete.

      2. If you have booked a client for a one-hour Reiki session, you can set the intention before the session that the client receive all the Reiki energy and healing they need within that hour time frame. Then, you have to trust and have faith that that will be the case. If the hour finishes and you still feel the energy flowing, you can ask the client if he or she wants you to continue, or to end the session. Because, remember, you have your boundaries too that need to be respected. If you are receiving payment for a one-hour session and go beyond that, you should get paid for it.

      3. Finally, something we often do here is to set the intention that the client will continue to receive the healing and Reiki they need even once the session comes to an end. That way, Spirit is handling it. (As it does everything, really. ;) And it is out of your hands. (As is most everything, really.)

  21. Hi,

I just finished my Level 2 Reiki class. I still don’t feel my hands getting hot though, and a lot of other people in my class did. Is that normal?

    Thanks,

    Pariva

    • Hi Pariva,

Yes, that is perfectly okay and normal. While many Reiki practitioners feel their hands head up while sending Reiki, others don’t at all. One of our Reiki Masters here has ice-cold hands when she sends ReikI! And still, anyone who has had a session with her can account for the strength of the energy she sends. So worry not about your hands heating up. That has nothing to do with it.

Good luck, Pariva, hope that helped!

  22. Hey guys,

My question is this: Is it normal not to learn any symbols at all in a First Degree online Reiki class? I saw one that looks good, but they don’t say anything about learning any symbols in it. It’s not until the Second Degree that they mention some symbols.

    Cheers,

    Holly

    • Hi Holly,

Since Reiki is not currently regulated (which we are happy for to tell you the truth, who wants the government involved in who can and cannot practice Reiki?), the curriculum of the online Reiki classes out there varies to a great degree.

While we teach a few symbols such as the Power Symbol and the Love Symbol in our Reiki Level One classes, as you’ve seen others do not. The type of Reiki the online class is attuning you to matters as well.

We would advise this, go with a Reiki Master Instructor and training program that feels right instead of thinking about whether you will get all the symbols or not. Particularly if you plan to move forward and get further attunements, which you should definitely do!

      Good luck Holly!

  23. How do you know that Reiki works? I am having a crisis of faith. Sometimes I believe in it, sometimes I don’t. I’m not attuned but my brother does Reiki on me.

    Mandy

    • Hi Mandy,

That’s normal. Who doesn’t go through a crisis of faith every now and then? In our personal experiences, we believe in the healing power of Reiki and know it works because of our firsthand experiences with it. Try getting an attunement, and then coming home and having all the electricity in your house go out because your vibration has changed!

In our experience, when people first learn a new healing modality like Reiki, they sometimes think it is a cure-all for the problems in their lives. And while healing blessings like Reiki definitely have their place, once the novelty has worn off, people feel a little less-excited about them or start to question their validity.

We would suggest thinking about how you feel when your brother does Reiki on you. Can you feel it? Do you feel relaxed, peaceful, or maybe even agitated? Any of these emotions (and a multitude of others) would suggest that the Reiki is being transmitted. Just know that your doubt is normal, and will likely pass.

  24. Hi Reiki Masters!

Is there any other way to create sacred space besides the ones you say, like candles and crystals?

    Thanks!

    Kristy

    • Hi Kristy,

There are an unlimited number of ways you can make a space sacred: with candles and crystals as we mentioned; with sage; with your intention “By the I am that I am, I declare this space sacred”; by calling in the 7 Directions as some Native American tribes do; by asking that Spirit clear any negative energy from the room, etc.

We look forward to hearing the creative ways you come up with!

    • Fair enough, Peter. Thank you for the compliment about our site. We encourage you to get a Reiki session and see for yourself before seeing if Reiki is for you.

  25. I am so glad you are recommending that people keep a journal about their experiences after getting attuned to Reiki. I just looked at mine from two years ago, and I had completely forgotten about all the crazy things that happened after my attunements, I am now a Reiki Master. I highly, highly recommend it.

    • Yes, Debra, we completely agree. You forget, and go about your daily life. It is quite easy to compartmentalize your spiritual being with the practicalities of everyday existence. But a journal can be invaluable in helping you remember. We second your recommendation.

    • Hi Sara,

By ‘regular online Reiki class ‘, do you mean an Usui Reiki one? If you are brand-new to Reiki and are getting your first attunement, we would probably suggest you go with an Usui Reiki online class. While Kundalini Reiki definitely has its place in the Reiki world, why not start with a solid foundation in the Reiki lineage of Dr. Usui?

But really, can you really go wrong with a Reiki class? We think not. ; )

  26. My brother suggested I might like this web site. He was so right. Reading about Reiki actually made my day. You can not imagine how much time I’ve waited to learn about Reiki, and now I am looking on the Internet and finding websites like yours. Thank you!

    • Your welcome Mona! Sounds like you could really benefit from taking a Reiki class or training, too. Sometimes we become so interested in a particular subject because it’s Spirit’s way of giving us a nudge in the right direction. Just an idea…

  27. How does Reiki work with massage? I am almost finished getting my massage license, and am thinking about taking a Reiki class too. I live in Seattle. Thanks.

    • Hi Rich,

Reiki is an excellent complementary modality to massage therapy. Many Reiki Masters we know are also massage therapists, and vice versa. When you know Reiki, you can always turn it on at the beginning of a massage to give your client a double dose of healing. We highly recommend it! The Scorpio energy of Seattle too is an excellent place to receive an attunement.

    • You are welcome, John. We look forward to hearing your experiences as they progress, and are excited for this healing path you are taking.

  28. I have been an Usui Reiki Master and Holistic Health Practitioner for many years. As I help my clients become empowered, I always try to walk the talk too. My own life is constantly evolving, just like theirs. I see your website as an inspiring place for Reiki masters and practitioners alike to share their thoughts and ideas on many different levels. Please keep up the good work. As Reiki Masters, we need to get Reiki healing out there in hospitals and medical offices.

    Aloha,

    Matt

    • Hi Matt,

Great comment. Yes, more Reiki in medical offices and hospitals certainly would be a great thing, wouldn’t it? Reiki everywhere would be ideal, really…

Thank you for being who you are.

  29. As I learned it, Reiki helps the body move into homeostasis, or balance. Therefore, as it moves into balance, it will naturally get rid of all that doesn’t comply with that balance. This explains the post-attunement process most people go through.

    • Hi Brian,

Yes, that explanation of the post-attunement process makes sense. Ultimately, all healing is about bringing the body, mind and spirit into balance. Thank you for sharing your understanding.

  30. I just stumbled upon your site through another Reiki site and your way of explaining Reiki is great. I look forward to future articles.

  31. I see a lot of commenters talking about the healing crisis and what happens after an attunement. I know why too, it is no joke! But worth it for how good you feel later. Stay in there, y’all.

    • Hi Susanna,

Thank you for your supportive comment. You are right, that healing crisis is nothing to scoff at. At the same time, knowing that you are healing provides some comfort. You are going through old wounds and hurts and experiencing them so you don’t have to again down the road. We release so much after an attunement!

  32. Thank you for sharing about the changes we go through after attunements. My Reiki teacher didn’t really explain about them, and I was left to my own devices during the healing crisis that happened afterward. Now I get it and am grateful for the experience since it helps me help the people I attune, but at the time I didn’t feel that way. I couldn’t wrap my head around why something that was supposed to heal me was hurting me. Now I see.

  33. What I love about Reiki personally is that there are no medical contraindications. People can get Reiki even when having to do harsh medical treatments.

    • Hi Bonnie,

So true! While we have had a couple cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy and we didn’t give Reiki to them because we didn’t want to flow energy in their bodies, you are right; there are virtually no contraindications with Reiki. Even in the case of chemotherapy, with the intention that the Reiki improves the outcome, it should be fine, but we were a bit cautious.

  34. Thank you for this. As an older woman, I was brought up in system of conventional medicine, so it took me a while to believe in Reiki. But my daughter started practicing it, and made me a believer. There are still times, sometimes even now, when something happens and I want relief immediately. Sometimes it is easier to take a pill and forget about it. But now, I am learning to trust holistic doctors and see my symptoms as a healing crisis. Sometimes I even welcome them and view them as a sign of a deeper healing inside.

    Marilyn

    • Hi Marilyn,

That is such progress. We understand how growing up in different times makes it that much harder to comprehend the alternative healing modalities that have cropped up in recent years. We salute you; your open-mindedness and willingness to try new things is something you should really be proud of.

  35. Hi there, just found you on Google. I’m grateful for your site, many folks will surely benefit from what you write about. Cheers!

  36. Great article. I’m very inspired! Helpful insight, especially about what happens after you get attuned. :) Thanks and good luck.

    • Hi Rex,

While we did experience some difficulties establishing a full-time Reiki practice, the strongest one surely had to be holding ourselves back because of fear. This Reiki article, http://www.reikitrainingclasses.org/healing-with-reiki/the-single-hardest-obstacle-to-starting-a-reiki-healing-practice/, may help clear some things up.

A couple of us do have full-time Reiki and energywork healing practices, while others are both massage therapists and Reiki practitioners. I, personally love to write, therefore the chance to contribute to the Reiki Training Classes website and write about this healing technique I love, in addition to having steady Reiki clients, have been ideal for me.

So the bottom line is this; YOU can do anything you put your mind to. If you want to have a practice that solely consists of Reiki, then do it. But give it all you’ve got. Otherwise, why bother? Sending you the manifestation symbol, Rex. Good good luck.

  37. There are no words for how Reiki has changed my life. I healed myself, and am now in the process of healing my mother and father too. This beautiful practice and way of life is quite remarkable when I think about it. I see what I can do when I wake up and start to see with my heart instead of my eyes. Thanks so much for this website.

    • What a beautiful way to put that Taryn. The whole world should see with our hearts instead of our eyes. Thank you for sharing.

  38. hello reiki masters. i was referred to your website by my sister and i am so happy she told me about it. your information is very current. carry on.

  39. Just wanted to remind all the Reiki practitioners out there that it is so important to keep balance in our lives. We have been blessed with the gift of Reiki, and what a gift it is. We should still remember though that we are alive and in a body for a reason. We are here to live.

    • Good point, Lucy. You are right, life is all about balance. Though we are spiritual beings having a human experience, we are still having a human experience! There are things we are meant to go through and work through here that can only be done on the Earth plane. It can be easy to forget that and get caught up in our spirituality, since it feels so good. Thanks for the reminder.

  40. I love your website. Your articles make me so eager to learn more about Reiki. Thx for posting so much information. Smiles.

  41. Reiki is an amazing system and method of healing. To all of you considering getting a Reiki attunement, go for it. I have gotten over twenty attunements to date, some in person and the rest online. Each time, I feel my ability to conduct the energy get stronger.

    Blessings Reiki masters.

  42. Hi, I’ve been a Reiki master and energy healer for ten years. I give someone Reiki every day because I never know when it may have a positive effect on someone’s life and I don’t realize it at the time. All we need to do is the work, and trust the Reiki will do the rest.

    Blessings,
    Brenda

    • Hi Brenda,

At the end of the day, trust and faith are what it’s all about, right? And you are so right, we never know whose life we will touch with our Reiki. Thank you.

  43. I had my Level 1 Reiki attunement last Saturday, and I love the path it has taken me on so far. Reading about Reiki gives me a ton of hope that Reiki and energetic healings will become much more accepted and utilized in everyday society. Light to you.

  44. I like how you write, excellent information! You articulate about Reiki very well. It makes sense to me. I mean, if we can do remote viewing and travel astrally, why shouldn’t we have the ability to heal others through time and space. The intention is what matters anyway, right? That is so true. Rock on!

    • Yes, Betsy, we agree. How fascinating it is that we can travel astrally and send Reiki long-distance and so forth, isn’t it? This world’s a changin as more and more people wake up… for the better, too.

  45. It is interesting to read about Reiki. I heal using energy, but I’ve never had a Reiki attunement. I think about it sometimes, but the way I heal works for me. I see energetic blockages. My way of thinking is that that is all that counts. I will think about an online Reiki class now though.

    • Hi Jessie,

We highly recommend it. The energyworkers we know who got Reiki attunements after they had already been working with energy all reported improvements in their practices. Can’t hurt, eh?

    • We shine a mirror to you Amanda so the love and light reflects right off us and bounces back to you. But we will accept it too of course ; )

    • Hi Maria Love,

We are striving for late spring. Stay posted; thanks for the encouragement that we need to get the ball rolling!

      Reiki Training Classes

  46. Thanks for that awesome posting. It saved me a LOT of time thinking about what to do next. Now I know I will just go with my gut as I look at online Reiki classes :-)

  47. I am so happy I found this website. There is so much information here for me. I have found that life seems to flow much more smoothly when we are walking the right path, and I finally feel like I am on mine. The articles here, especially about online Reiki classes, are wonderful. I feel so much positive energy and love flowing from these teachings. I really appreciate you sharing your time and energy with the entire world. Namaste.

    • How true, Nina. The path we are meant to walk always feels right, even when there are potholes. The light within us honors the light within you.

  48. Call me crazy, but I would think you would need to do a Reiki attunement in person. All these Reiki classes online that are sprouting up seem to have forgotten a key tenet of the Usui Reiki Tradition. That is, learning from a master and observing their ways. I would think you don’t get that in a Reiki class online.

    • Hi Kasey,

Interesting point. While it’s true that having a mentor and in-person master can be very valuable, there are many people who have touched our lives greatly that we have never met. Paulo Coelho, Louise Hay are a couple. And since the Reiki energy isn’t limited by time and space, there are strong arguments that online Reiki classes can transmit attunements quite effectively. All a matter of personal preference we guess!

  49. I am a six foot four black man, and most people don’t expect me to be a Reiki master. But I send Reiki to all the people I know every day. I learned it in college from an ex-girlfriend, and became hooked when I saw the results. So, remember, anyone can be a Reiki master.

    • That’s right Duke Johnson. Anyone can be a Reiki Master. We should think of that the next time we see a homeless person or think of those in our lives who we have the hardest time communicating with. Maybe they were a Reiki master in a previous lifetime.

  50. I recently began my quest to becoming a certified Reiki Master and am taking an online Reiki class Level II in about 2 weeks. I searched locally for someone who was certified in the field of Reiki, and had a session with them first so I could connect. I suggest the same for those of you looking at online Reiki classes. Or Reiki trainings in general. Also, I have found that there are several styles of Reiki practitioners out there, however there is one source and we all work from there. Trust your intuition and let it guide you.
    Best of Luck!

    Anna

    • One Source, so true. That’s a great idea though, Anna. If possible, people should get a Reiki session from the Reiki Master teaching the course. What a perfect way to see if you like how they transmit the energy.

  51. Good Morning,

Glad that I found this site. I would like to practice Reiki, and learn more about it. Would you be able to tell me where to begin? I’m reading your website, and just bought the book Everything Reiki from Barnes & Noble last night. I have been looking for something that resonated with me for some time now. I think it’s Reiki. I appreciate any help.

    Lila

    • Hi Lila,

We would recommend taking a Reiki class and receiving an attunement! At the end of the day, you can read all about Reiki and know ‘facts’ about it, but until you truly experience something you can never really know it, right? So get a Reiki session, or better yet, get yourself into a class.

      Good luck!

  52. Is it really true that most people never reached the Reiki master level before the internet? I heard that in a Reiki class online I took back in the day. Thx

    • Hi Phil,

Well, we are not sure if the Internet was the sole catalyst in the increase of amount of Reiki Masters, but we have read that when Dr. Usui was alive, becoming a Reiki Master was much more difficult. Few attained such a level. Just one more thing we can be grateful about now, huh?

  53. Hi Reiki Training Classes,

First of all, great site. I love it. Please let me know when you start giving online Reiki classes and attunements. I wanted to ask how important you feel the osho symbol is. Sometimes I forget it and just start sending Reiki. Do I need to do it in order for the Reiki to start?

    Looking forward to your answer,

    Erin

    • Hi Erin,

While the Osho symbol does signify the start of a Reiki transmission, we don’t feel it is absolutely necessary all the time, no. Sometimes you pass someone in your car, and in that split second you get the urge to send them love or the power symbol so they remember how powerful they truly are. Will the transmission not work if you don’t do an Osho beforehand? We don’t think so.

  54. I find that I pretty much only use the power symbol. It’s the easiest to remember, and everything I need. Do you think it’s necessary to use all the symbols? Thanks

    Alice

    • Hi Alice,

That really depends. While we like to use all the symbols at our disposal, some of the Reiki Masters here use no symbols at all. They just send love and light and trust that the right energies will flow through their hands regardless of what symbol they add. If you feel right using the Power symbol, then that is exactly the symbol you should use. Each person’s Reiki practice will be unique to them.

      Best of luck Alice

    • Sounds good Janelle! Let us know if you have any of your own too. After all, we are a Reiki community. One energy.

  55. I haven’t been using the disclaimer when I send Reiki, so I’m glad you said to use it. That makes sense. I certainly don’t want to accrue any karma by not using it. I will add that before sending Reiki from now on.

    • Hi Jack,

Yes, you definitely always want to say a disclaimer. ALTHOUGH – and this is a little tip that we use from time to time (to save time), okay, well everyday since time is so precious- first thing in the morning we say, “Anything and everything, anything and everything, anything and everything, you are free to accept or reject this healing. Reiki is healing, harmonizing and balancing.”

That way, the entire day is set, and you don’t have to say the disclaimer every time you send someone Reiki or a symbol.

And hey, this just came as we write this – why couldn’t you say, “for this entire year” or even “for this entire lifetime”. Reiki, and all energywork really, is so intertwined with intention that it seems you should be able to say this and have this lifetime’s Reiki energy come with the disclaimer.

      So thanks for your comment!

    • Hi Jade,

Beautiful, beautiful name by the way. Did you know that the Mayans consider jade to be more similar to the heart’s vibration than even Rose Quartz? They use Jade in many of their ceremonies because of its healing effects on the heart chakra.

And it IS good to be reminded of things, isn’t it? We often forget lessons we’ve already learned and unfortunately have to repeat them when this happens. So why let that happen?

Energy never dies, this is true. Our job is to alchemize it. So let’s get to alchemizing! By the way, if you’ve never read The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo, we can’t recommend it more. Phenomenal.

      Best wishes Jade.

  56. I do not even know if it is the vibration of your blog or the Reiki writing, but it has saved me. God bless you. I believe in Reiki and what it can do.

    • Hi Brooke,

Good, although maybe it is you who in actuality have saved yourself! ;) We are so happy to hear that. Many many Reiki blessings to you.

  57. The very heart of your writing I bought into in the beginning, but after sitting with me I am not a believer in Reiki. The leaps in assumption leave me trying to fill in all those breaks myself. Maybe you can try to do that on this website.

    • Hi Rand,

Thank you for sharing your honest opinion about Reiki. While that is definitely your prerogative to believe the way you do, we find that it is precisely that we sometimes cannot explain how Reiki works in words that makes it so magical. The healing power of Reiki goes far beyond what our analytical minds can wrap their heads around, especially since we use such a small percentage of our brain capacity anyway!

Therefore, we are committed to filling Reiki Training Classes with useful information for prospective students of online Reiki classes and in-person Reiki trainings and attunements.

Still, we thank you for your opinion and for speaking your truth.

  58. I wanted to add how Reiki helps us mediation and reach higher states of consciousness by bringing uss into ta state of relaxation. Meditation is not concentration. You can never achieve it this way. Meditation is a state of being. It is a state of awareness. Meditation is not about doing something; rather it is about doing nothing.

    • Hi Siddhartha,

Anyone who has ever had a relaxing Reiki session can attest to it bringing you to a higher state of consciousness! Which allows people to move into meditation with ease. Meditation is so fundamental to living a healthy, balanced life in our opinion. We always start every meeting here with a meditation prior to the discussion. So, thanks for writing about the beautiful practice of meditation.

      Namaste

  59. Hi friends! Thanks for this advice. I just signed up for a Reiki class online and wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing. Peace Alexis

  60. I have to agree with putting on music when you give Reiki. The meditation and relaxation music reaches to unearth the bountiful beauty present in our beings. The panorama of the highest order brings the opportunity to allow love to embrace ourselves.

    • Hi again,

We incorporate music into all our Reiki courses, attunements and client sessions as well. Music brings us into a state of being like nothing else can.

  61. I give attunements and online Reiki classes and my favorite part about Reiki is that it really works to return the cells of the body to homeostasis and wellness. It is amazing that the body can heal itself under the correct circumstances.

    • You are so right, Kasey. The body truly is a phenomenal instrument. What it could do if we (and by we, we mean our minds and the collective consciousness) weren’t constantly messing with it! ;) It truly is the best ally and healer you have.

  62. More and more people, especially parents are turning to alternative therapies to try and assist themselves and their children. The western orthodox approach to treating youngsters like my son with autism has ranged placing them in care to working on improving their social and communication abilities. There’s no ‘cure’ as yet for Autism, leading some parents to try alternative therapies for symptomatic relief and feasible improvement inside the condition of their youngsters. One common recent approach is acupuncture, even though autism as defined by western medicine isn’t recognised by Traditional Chinese Medicine. I am excited to try Reiki in addition to acupuncture. Thank you for all you do for this world.

    • Hi Dana,

Yes, we are firm believers in Reiki being a complementary modality to help heal all the afflictions the people in today’s world face. Reiki and acupuncture particularly go together extremely well.

One of the Reiki Masters here has a daughter with autism, and she has found that sound therapy works extremely well with her daughter. Something to think about if you haven’t tried it already! The healing power of sound is unparalleled. Best of luck to you and your daughter.

    • We completely agree, Randy. Everyone in the world should be a healer, even if only to healer themselves. Sending light to help illuminate your path!

  63. Hi there,

I love your blog. I decided to Google Reiki after hearing about it in a yoga class and that’s how I found you guys. Your articles really make me very eager to learn more. Thx for writing about all this. I just signed up for an online Reiki class. Smiles

    Owen

    • Smiles right back. Please post a comment about your experience in your online Reiki class! We would love to offer you our experience in any issues you might have, as well as the input from our beloved community of commenters and readers. Let us know!

  64. I appreciate the content on this website. Just finished taking Reiki classes online. Did a Reiki Level Two and Kundalini Reiki class. I’m happy I can keep learning with websites like yours.

    • Hi Christopher,

Nice, nice. Very creative of you. Something we do sometimes as well (when we’re so guided) is to imagine the Reiki symbols being drawn in purple as you draw them. But hey, purple through your hands definitely works too! Keep sending.

    • Hi Isis,

Prices really do vary for Reiki classes online and in-person, even for a Reiki Level One class. However, we generally price our Reiki Level One classes at around $300, and they span over the course of a few weeks.

We would suggest that if the class is a one-day class, you may want to just search around a bit more and make sure you’re choosing the right program for you. Particularly since you are choosing from online Reiki classes, and Level One at that, you should have a plethora of options available.

If the Reiki Master teaching the course is amazing, however, or if the training lasts for a few weeks, then do it anyway! Ultimately, we can never go wrong if we trust our intuition.

      Good luck Isis!

  65. Reiki is for everyone. I am a certified Life Coach and Holistic Health Nutritional Counselor. Knowing Reiki has allowed me to send it in all my consultations and sessions with clients, in addition to the work they come to me for. Light and love.

    • Reiki sure is for everyone, Miranda. You nailed that one on the head! One added beauty is that, as you mentioned, you can literally incorporate your Reiki training into virtually any other healing work you do. Thank you for sharing!

  66. I actually prefer online Reiki classes to when I’ve gotten attunements in person. Something about the format of the class allows me to feel the attunement more deeply.

    • Hi Cara,

Hmmm, interesting! Perhaps you are less distracted with online Reiki classes, and are able to prepare the ultimate sacred space in which to receive your attunement. Though we personally find in-person attunements to be slightly more powerful, that makes sense. And anyone who’s ever received long-distance Reiki can definitely attest to it working. Thanks for your input!

  67. Hi, IMHO, the best and only way to give someone Reiki is with an open heart. It matters less what level you are attuned to or what attunements you’ve got. What matters is that you are willingly flowing the energy. Thanks, Annabel

    • Yes, Annabel, we agree. And to tell you the truth, the only way to do virtually anything is with an open heart, isn’t it? Otherwise you are cheating yourself. And what’s the point of doing that?

Just a quick reminder, you also always want to give the disclaimer (either aloud or silently) and also ask that the Reiki that is transmitted during the session be for the Highest Good of all concerned.

  68. I have been using essential oils and flower essences when I give Reiki to my friends, and I’ve found them to greatly enhance the sessions.

    • Nice, Geri! Nothing wrong with some tantalizing scents, that’s for sure. Using scents makes a lot of sense. (Corny pun intended). One of our teachers recently got certification in Bach flower essences, and we have been the lucky beneficiaries of her practice sessions!

  69. Light greetings,

As I travel on my psychic healing path, I am grateful to have found your website. I am more practiced in the Shamanic Arts and wisdom of ancient societies. However, I find it very interesting to read about new-age and metaphysical energy healing work as well. Many blessings as we move into the Aquarian Age.

    Vera

    • Thank you Vera, blessings and guidance to you as well. The Aquarian Age thus far seems to be moving at the speed of light as compared to the slower, heavier energy of the Piscean Age. Have you looked into Shamanistic Reiki at all? A few previous students are Shamans who wanted to add Reiki to their healing repertoire. Some people say the two are related.

      Take care Vera

    • Good for you, Traci. This is so true, and so important. Once we realize the power of our thoughts in creating our reality, we see the importance of intending what we truly want to happen.

      Good luck!

  70. After my 2nd Reiki training class I started writing poetry that doesn’t even sound like me. I think I might be channeling, but I like it either way.

    • Hi Lynn,

Fascinating. Yes, that does sound like you are channeling. Perhaps you would share some of the poetry? We would love to read it! We recommend reading over the poetry and looking for any messages you make out. That is so cool! Lucky you.

  71. Aloha,

When I am under great duress, I Reiki over my heart for about five minutes. I always reach a point where I feel miles away from how I did when I first started the Reiki.

I believe the Reiki comes through the heart.

    • Hi Doreen,

Yes, Reiki over your heart always feels good, doesn’t it? If you know the heart healing symbol, all the better.

  72. I was very pleased to find this web-site. I wanted to say thanks for a wonderful read!! I definitely enjoyed it and I have you bookmarked to check out the new stuff you post.

  73. Whenever life gets the best of me and I feel really stressed out, I turn on my Reiki and just breathe. I imagine breathing Reiki in and out of my body. Helps a ton.

    • Good idea, Fiona. Kudos for you to remembering to Reiki yourself when you feel overwhelmed. Sometimes, we can forget the valuable tool that we have in Reiki when this happens! Thanks for the reminder. And yes, Reiki Masters need to be reminded as well. :)

  74. Reiki changed my life, maybe even saved it. Have you heard the Chinese proverb that if you don’t change course you will end up where you’re headed? I was headed in the wrong direction, and Reiki changed that course. I will always see it as a saviour for me.

    • Good for you Bettina. We know a couple recovering alcoholics who are now Reiki masters, and they have said the same thing. The path of Reiki is definitely one of the light.

    • Well, they say that everything you see is just a mirror, don’t they? ;) So you have a pretty healthy view of yourself and see yourself as the being of love that you are!

  75. Thanx a million for giving such practical and useful advice about Reiki. Many of the Reiki websites around are fluffy and all love and light, but I can’t take anything new from them like I can from yours. Bravo.

  76. I was skeptical at first, but my doubt taught me a lot. My doubt as to whether I could really send Reiki forced me to practice and take the time to feel the Reiki. I learned that I believe I can, but don’t want other people to make fun of me. I care too much about what others think of me. Now that I know that, I can work on it. Good stuff.

    • That is an important thing to realize Darren. What an ephiphany! But you know, most of us care too much about what others think. Like you said, however, once we are aware of our missteps, we can change them. Best of luck to you Darren, in life and your Reiki endeavors!

  77. I like to put Reiki into my baths before getting in. I chokurei up the water, and feel it in the amount of relaxation I feel. You should try it!

    • Hi Ann,

Thanks for sharing this tip with our readers. Since we are made up of mostly water, adding Chokurei into a bath is a great way to give yourself Reiki as you relax into the water. For a double dose of relaxation.

  78. My friends and family think I’m nuts for doing Reiki, but I don’t care. I know it works, I have felt it and also seen the results as I can manifest things with much more ease now. The proof is in experiencing it myself.

    Jared Turner

    • You are so right, Jared. Who cares what anyone thinks really, anyway? As Mother Teresa once said, “Your life is never about ‘them’ anyway”. Keep doing that Reiki!

  79. I found my Reiki attunement, that was in person to be a really spiritual and moving experience. I’m just not sure that can happen online, although I am open to the possibility. But personally, I plan to continue my Reiki education in person with Reiki classes and attunements I am physically present for.

    • Hi Ori,

No doubt that in-person attunements can be profound and deep experiences. And we agree, it is a little bit like comparing having a person right in front of you with Skyping with them. At the same time, however, online Reiki classes and attunements do show the power of long-distance Reiki healings, and can be a great resource for people who don’t have the flexibility or capability of taking an in-person Reiki class.

Thanks for your comment at any rate!

  80. I have to say that I feel really lucky. I felt amazing after my first and second Reiki attunements, and literally laughed the whole way home after the second one. I hope it stays this way, but after reading the comments I will know it’s okay if it doesn’t.

  81. Hi Reiki Training,

I can see the Reiki as bubbles of light that move from me to the object or person I’m sending them to.

    Beatriz

  82. I started crying right after my Master Attunement and couldn’t stop the whole night. I kept seeing myself as a child and feeling like nobody cares about me. I did Reiki on myself and felt a little better the next day but we will see. Three days now and its still up and down.

    • Hi Joan,

Take heed- know that you are in the middle of a processing, and that how you are feeling is a necessary part of moving to a much better place. The Reiki always heals, and as they say, “Love brings up anything unlike itself.” So do not despair, it sounds like you have some deep-seated issues from your childhood that are coming up for you to heal. As do we all! We appreciate and honor your courage in facing those difficult emotions. Keep your head up!

    • Happy we could help change your mind Chad! ;) We highly recommend actually receiving a Reiki treatment. You may just come around – we know so many skeptics who have.

  83. I volunteer at a hospital, and attune terminally ill patients to Reiki. What an emotional experience. The attunements help them move toward the light, and they are so grateful for them.

  84. After my Reiki II attunement, I went home that night and could feel the energy moving through me. When I went to turn on the lights in my apartment, my hand got a shock, which was crazy to me since my hand was 6″ away from the light switch. Cool!

    • Nice Natalia! One of the Reiki masters here actually made the electricity in her entire house shut off. Since everything is energy, our houses and electrical machinery is just not used to such a high vibration as Reiki it seems. That is a great story though, we appreciate your sharing it!

  85. I totally got the flu right after my Master attunement. I hadn’t gotten sick in previous Reiki courses, so I was suprised and not expecting it. But it was what it was. I didn’t fight the toxins as they flowed through my body, and afterward felt much better. It did change my outlook on health though! I got to read a book I had been waiting on too.

    • Having flu-like symptoms for the first few days after a Reiki attunement is a quite common experience we’ve found. We are happy to see that you looked on the bright side of the experience however.

  86. Having read this I thought it was very enlightening. I appreciate you taking the time and effort to put this article together. I once again find myself spending way too much time both reading and leaving comments. But so what, it’s worth it!

    Vince

  87. This is the perfect web site for people who want to find out more about healing with Reiki I like your spin on the subject a lot. Great stuff.

  88. Haha – when I came home from my attunement, I got in a huge fight with my girlfriend. I think it may have been because I got triggered? I don’t know, but we patched things up and now I feel much more spiritually raw.

    • Hmmm, well, the Reiki must have known what it was doing Chuck. Perhaps, and this is purely a guess here, you were vibrating at such a high level after your Reiki attunement that you didn’t mesh with your girlfriend’s energy when you saw her. Perhaps that was the reason? It makes sense, since people often feel threatened when they feel someone close to them is changing. This is very normal, as it’s normal to resist change. We’re happy to hear you patched things up!

  89. I already got a Reiki one attunement, but it was many years ago. Now that I want to continue, should I start with level one Reiki classes again? Or would it be okay to keep moving forward and take a Reiki Level Two Class.

    Thanks,

    Alex

    • Hi Alex,
Great question. While we feel you should definitely use your intuition on this, since it sounds like you took the class many years ago, you might want to start again with Reiki I. This is not absolutely necessary, of course, since once you receive a Reiki attunement it stays with you for life, but you personally may feel more confident in your abilities with a refresher course. Besides, having two Reiki I attunements certainly never hurt anyone!

    • Great question Carmen. We believe that it is, since they are both healing modalities that have been around for so many years. Both use energy to heal, and since ultimately, we are all made up of the same energy, everything is related. But that is great that you are receiving messages from your animal totems. Heed these messages, as animals sure can teach us a lot about this world we live in.

Enjoy this gift the Earth has bestowed upon you!

  90. Just wanted to share my experiences with self-healing and Reiki. At first, I have to say i did wonder if it was really working at all. I couldn’t feel a thing, and almost felt like doing the Reiki every single day was a chore. But I recommend sticking with it, I have found that it gets easier and easier. My life and career has taken off in a way I never even would have dreamed of. So I would say, trust in the Reiki. Don’t overthink it and let the Universe run the show.

    • We like your comment, Jenny. Yes, Let’s let the Universe run the show! With it’s infinite wisdom, how can it really go wrong?

  91. Since taking my online Reiki class, for my first attunement, my life has been upside down. You really weren’t kidding about that after process. Jeez. I have been bombarded with emotions and memories from when I was a child, and these are not the kinds of feelings I would necessarily want to experience again. I like reading that they will someday go away, however. I am ready for that.

    Much love,

    Jackie

    • You are a brave soul, Jackie. Remember, by re-experiencing these painful emotions (even for a second), you are allowing yourself a release from them. They have been stored in your body for years and years, and you will feel so much lighter when you get rid of them. You’ll see!!!

  92. Dude, I got a few Reiki attunements a couple months ago from online Reiki training classes, and keep giving myself treatments for my knee that has major problems. Nothing. I understand that it may take a while, but really, I feel like I paid all this money and went through some bogus ceremony only for nothing. Seems like a little bit of a scam to me.

    • Hi Shaun,

We are sorry you feel that way. But obviously, by virtue of having a Reiki website, we feel Reiki is definitely NOT a scam :D Perhaps you ended up with a program or teacher that was a scam, but Reiki does work. Trust us. It works.

  93. Last year I got a Reiki I attunement, and then last month Reiki II. I didn’t feel anything during them, but I know they worked because I’ve done Reiki treatments on my friends and they feel them. Self healing and doing Reiki on myself is harder however. Do you think I need to keep getting attunements and taking more Reiki classes online?

    • Hi Erin,
Nope :) And that is probably the only time you’ll hear us NOT telling someone to take a Reiki training class. But if you have received a real attunement, you are capable of doing self-healing. Keep doing it. Perhaps try holding your hands a bit above your body instead of actually on it, as it’s sometimes easier to feel the energy that way.

But you can do it! You are healing yourself, whether you recognize it or not.

  94. To me, Reiki is a celebration of life itself. Every time I turn my Reiki on, I am honoring who I am and that I am a part of the great Universal Truth.

  95. Here is what I’ve learned since I started doing Reiki

    1. I accept things as they are more easily
    2. I judge other people much less.
    3. I believe in things beyond what we can see.
    4. I can effect positive change in the world.
    5. I’m less likely to get angry.
and perhaps the most important, 6 death is an illusion. I won’t die when I supposedly ‘die’!

    • Hi Spencer,

Thanks for your creative comment. And though we are sure you’ve probably learned many more things than those, what valuable lessons, eh? Some people go their entire lives and never learn those lessons. You have come very far my friend! Very far.

  96. I am not generally an airy fairy person, but I have to tell you, after getting a long distance Reiki attunement I definitely felt the energy. It was incredible like a beam of energy focused on my heart. I signed up for an online Reiki class the next day.

    • Glad to hear it, Melinda. We often hear this. Once people experience Reiki for themselves, their defenses and resistance diminish and often disappear altogether. Like you said, there is no denying the Reiki! Once you have felt it, how can you not become a believer in the magic of this powerful healing energy. Let us know how your online Reiki class goes!

  97. I know it may sound cliche, but I just can’t imagine my life without Reiki now, I really can’t. I use it every day and it has helped me in so many ways, including some I’m sure I don’t know about.

  98. excellent article… this post is really valuable and definitely deserves a comment! hehe. i’m going to find out if i can use some of this info with regard to my personal Reiki practice. many thanks!

  99. I like to send my Reiki as an energy ball of purple light. First I create the ball by doing symbols in front of my heart, and then when I can really feel the ball I will put it into where the client needs it.

    • Thanks for sharing your unique way to send Reiki KTee. There are probably as many tricks and techniques to Reiki as there are practitioners, since everyone brings their own uniqueness and creativity to the table. We like yours though, hopefully some readers will find it resonates with them.

  100. I use a light blue stone on the throat whenever focusing on the throat chakra. Blue lace agate works really well. I find that stones really enhance my Reiki sessions. Another common gemstone I use is carnelian for the second chakra. There’s a lot of energy circulating around that can blog people’s 2nd chakra these days.

  101. Magnificent website. Here in the South there aren’t as many opportunities to get a Reiki attunement as in, say California LOL. I signed up for two online Reiki classes and will see where they take me! Thanks for all your hard work.

  102. I always feel safe when I do Reiki, like I’m part of this whole Universe of ours and doing something that benefits others.

  103. I was looking through the net and discovered your guide about Reiki Training Classes and Online Reiki Classes. Thought it was really engaging. There is some great suggestions here to deepen your Reiki practice. Thanks.

  104. I always picture sending Reiki in a white fluffy cloud when I send it long-distance. It helps me to visualize an actual block of energy when I send it.

    • Hi J.P. ,

Particularly for people who are more visual, it does help to see the Reiki as a physical thing you are sending. The idea of a cloud is nice too, very airy, and of the ether.

  105. Blessings,

I use my Reiki on a daily basis, and feel truly blessed that I was introduced to Reiki at a time when I felt down and out and truly needed it. I love to practice and share this healing art, and my heart will forever be full of gratitude for this gift.

    Julianne

  106. I blog frequently and I genuinely appreciate your content. Your front page really peaked my interest. I never knew there was so much to learn about Reiki. I bookmarked your website and will look at it again when I’m ready to take an online Reiki class. I opted in for your Feed as well.

    Take care,

    Michael Palmer

  107. Hi fellow Reiki masters, would you mind if I share your blog with my Reiki group? We do a share every Wednesday in Sedona.
There’s a lot of folks that I think would really enjoy your content. Please let me know. Many thanks,

    Sarah Jane

  108. Hi there! I’m at work surfing around your Reiki blog from my new iphone! Just wanted to say I love reading through what you have to say about Reiki and look forward to all your posts! Keep up the fantastic work!

  109. I use Reiki in my healing practice as I do energywork working with the angels, particularly Archangel Michael. It’s really a nice combination with the two together. My online Reiki class instructor didn’t teach us that, but Archangel Michael taught me on my own and I use it naturally. I highly recommend it.

  110. Hiya, thank you so much for a very worthwhile post about the healing Reiki energy, I don’t usually write blog comments but appreciated your post and as a result thought I’d say thanks alot : ) ~ Evelyn

  111. Simply wish to say your article about Reiki and giving a session is very on point and perfect for what I’m dealing with right now

  112. Hmmm, just wanted to say I am thoroughly enjoying your blog. I am an aspiring blog writer too. I just finished my Reiki Master Training Class, and any helpful hints for inexperienced blog writers setting up their own blog would be wonderful. I’d genuinely appreciate it. Thanks, Patrick

  113. Hello there! I could have sworn I’ve visited this site before but after browsing through a few of the articles I realized it’s new to me. I looked at all the Reiki sites when comparing online Reiki classes. Anyhow, I’m delighted I discovered it and I’ll be book-marking it and checking back regularly!

  114. Are you a seasoned writer? Your writing skills are very well-polished. I love reading how you describe Reiki. I learned Kundalini Reiki from an online Reiki class last year and use it every day. Keep up the fascinating posts, please!

  115. My favorite Reiki symbol is the Mental/Emotional healing symbol that I learned in my online Reiki II class. I use it with the Distance Healing Symbol to send healing to my future self, and I know it works! You may want to try it sometime Reiki friends.

    Love,

    Stephanie

  116. I love every article on this website. When will you start offering Reiki classes online? Please let me know, I will be the first to sign up, I love how you explain how Reiki works so easily.

    Much love,

    Brie

  117. Peace and Blessings,

We are all one. The transformation is happening now, and Reiki is but a part of the universal rise in consciousness. Stay strong my fellow light beings, thank you for helping heal the world with positive Reiki energy.

    One love,

    Caleb

    • We at Reiki Training Classes agree, Ginger. Combining Reiki and massage is a practice we recommend to all our students who also practice massage. Thanks for sharing!

  118. You are so funny!!! I’ve become obsessed with your blog and I spend a lot of time reading all your posts about Reiki and online Reiki classes. I wish I’d found you sooner, and I wish you posted as much as you used to! You must have stopped now though because you are so busy teaching classes. Post more if you can please!!!

  119. I like what you guys are up too. Nice coverage of the Reiki principles!
Keep up the fantastic works guys, I’ve added you guys to my blogroll.

    Brian

  120. Hello there! This is kind of off topic but I need some guidance from an established blog.
Is it very difficult to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I’m
thinking about creating my own but I’m not sure where to begin. Do you have any points or suggestions? Many thanks

  121. Hello! I simply want to give you a huge thumbs up for your great information
you have here on this post. I’ll be returning to your blog for more soon.

  122. I don’t get it. Seems to me that all energy work is based on intention. OK! I totally get that! Intent is energy! Thought creates!

So…if I set my intention to receive healing and attunement. Why would our benevolent God deny my request?
Why would I need to PAY someone for an energy that Source provides ALL OF US for the asking!?
Not angry about it or anything just trying to understand! I’m very interested and passionate about spirituality. Which makes me beg the question! Make sense?

    • Hi Rick,

Thanks so much for your comment. We really appreciate your honesty and you are obviously really thinking about energy and spirituality and this beautiful world we live in. Let’s see, to hopefully answer your question, you are paying to be attuned to a specific type of hands-on-healing called Reiki. So the price includes our time, the trainings we took to become Reiki Masters, as well as the manuals and information we provide that explains how to practice Reiki on yourself and others. Dr. Mikao Usui, the founder of Reiki, used to give Reiki away after he first “discovered” it on a mountaintop in Japan. But he soon found himself depleted, (mentally, emotionally and physically), and realized that he had to receive something for what he was offering. If you believe everything is energy – which we do – then you may have heard that giving and receiving are the same types of energy. If you aren’t open to receiving for the work that you put out, then you are blocking the flow, so to speak.

We learned from our Reiki Master that you must always receive something to ensure the person you are sending Reiki to receives the energy. Since we are creating a business and putting our hearts and souls into it, we want to make sure the energetic flow is open. Also, by charging for the classes, which we hope to offer more and more of, we may just create something where we are able to teach Reiki full-time and make enough money to do so.

That being said, I DO understand your question. A large part of what we teach in our classes is that every individual has the power within themselves to heal. HOWEVER, we have experienced many type of energywork- color healing, higher-self resonance theory, pranic healing, etc – and there is definitely something distinct about Reiki, at least in our experience. I personally can always tell when someone is sending me Reiki versus another type of healing (be it “love energy” or whatever).

Thanks again for your comment, Rick, and best of luck to you in everything you do : )

    • Hi there,

Sure, you are more than welcome to quote Reiki Training Classes! We are happy to share our information. After all, we are all in this together…

  124. Hi, I’m a reiki enthusiast, i love to try and learn.
After some research and thinking i do agree that a huge quantity of human behavior (good and bad) is controlled by the subconcious mind.
Using reiki how do i control, alter or amend it ?

    • Hi Cherin,

Thanks so much for your comment. Let’s see, the good thing about sending healing Reiki energy (to yourself or others) is that you don’t really have to DO anything. Essentially, you “step out of the way” so to speak so that the Reiki can flow through you. The universal life force energy that is Reiki is very intelligent, and knows where to go to create healing for the highest good of all concerned. Often times, the Reiki energy will help its recipient by inducing deep relation, (which in our hectic world can be very healing in-and-of-itself!) Some people cry when they receive Reiki, which is very healing as well, and the Reiki provides a safe place for people to feel.

A key focus of sending Reiki is your intention as well, so as long as you INTEND for the Reiki to help heal your subconscious, it will do so as long as that is in your best interest. Nice to know we don’t have to do everything ourselves, isn’t it?!?

Hope that answers your question, and good luck on your Reiki path!

  125. Your online Reiki training classes website is… how do I say it? Amazing! Phenomenally well-written. Finally I’ve found something which explains this Japanese technique further. Thank you very much.

    Reiki level two

    • Thank you Lula! That really means a lot to us; we write with experienced Reiki practitioners in mind as well as people new to Reiki who are looking for an online Reiki class or more information about this beautiful Japanese healing art. So thank you for sharing your degree of Reiki with us as well as your unique vibration and frequency. : )

  130. I reached here when I was looking for online reiki classes. What a lovely place you have created here! I’m definitely coming back and reading everything here at leisure. I wonder if you could tell me if Reiki can help me. I am trying to start writing the books I have in my head and I just cant seem to get on with it. The major thing holding me back is that I have a problem completing things. I have abandoned a diploma course, several art projects and several stories mid way. Is this something Reiki can help me resolve? Many thanks for your lovely website.

    • Hi Sangeeta,

Thanks so much for your email. Let’s see, I want to answer your question as honestly and helpfully (if that is even a word : ) as possible. Is Reiki extremely powerful? Yes. Does it have the potential to create lasting changes in your life with respect to procrastination and self-sabotage and all kinds of other things we humans can tend to do to ourselves? Yes. Is it a one-stop cure all? Not necessarily. (Not that I thought you were looking for an easy fix; I just didn’t want to make any false claims about Reiki.)

I, personally along with so many of our students have found Reiki to be very empowering in that you learn how to heal yourself. It is also extremely healing, even though the healing doesn’t always happen the way you expect it to or would hope it to! For example, often lower vibrational thoughts and false beliefs about ourselves and what we’re capable of will come up during a Reiki class or session. They come up in order to be released, but the process of releasing them isn’t always fun while it’s happening!

Essentially, yes I think Reiki could definitely help with your difficulty completing projects, as long as you look honestly at the underlying reasons for stopping, such as perhaps a fear of failure or not being good enough. (Again, extremely common feelings that we all have!) And if you use the Reiki to help heal those issues within yourself, and have compassion for yourself throughout the process, then yes, I think you can create real lasting change by learning Reiki.

      Thanks again for your question!

      Brooke
      Reiki Master Teacher

  131. Can you tell me how long I should wait between taking Reiki One and Reiki Two? I just finished Reiki One and want to take Reiki Two with you.

    Thank you, Love Sara

    • Hi Sara,

Great question. Some Reiki Master say to wait a certain time before moving on to the next level when it comes to Reiki, but we have a different mindset. We think you should take Reiki II when you feel ready and you feel you have taken in what you needed from Reiki I. Every person is different. Some students wait a couple months between their Reiki I and Reiki II classes, whereas others go straight through and take no break whatsoever. We wish we had a more specific answer, but as long as you trust your intuition, we are confident you will be just fine.

We look forward to attuning you to Reiki II when the time is right!

      Love love

    • Hi Helaine,

Great news! We just sent you a private email with all the details for your upcoming Reiki I class. I will be your Reiki teacher and so look forward to “meeting” you online!

      Brooke

  132. Very informative, thank you for explaining all the details about Reiki. I will sign up for an online class when I can.

    • Good, that makes us so happy to hear that Leah! Although the Reiki information on this site is by no means exhaustive, and the best way to truly understand the healing Reiki energy is to become attuned to it. As it flows through you, you can’t help but learn about it experientially.

  133. Hello,

I would like to suggest some book for your “Recommended books about Reiki” menu. Let me share some valuable ones:
One of my favourite author is FRANK ARJAVA PETTER and I recommend reading his books:
    - THIS IS REIKI
    - THE HAYASHI REIKI MANUAL

The other one is BRONWEN STIENE and FRANS STIENE: THE REIKI SOURCEBOOK. This is very synthetic book from the reiki past to the present. It shows both the japanese and western view of reiki. I like it very much.

And one other interesting book for me is: DON BECKETT: REIKI THE TRUE STOTY. This is also a book from japanese perspectice and tell lot of interesting stories and have also practical part too. :)

    • Thanks so much, we appreciate your sharing the Reiki authors and books you love! We love Frank Arjava Petter as well. Thanks again!!!

      Shanti Shanti Shanti

  134. I took their online Reiki class for level one last year and loved it! I am now ready to take the Reiki class online for level two and am very excited to take my training to the next level! Thank you again!

    • Great to hear from you Annabelle… you were such a strong Reiki practitioner, even at the 1st level, and a real joy to “work” with. We are ready for your Reiki II online class whenever you are!
